The Creed Bros NXT Status Update
As noted before, this past Tuesday’s NXT show featured The Dyad defeating The Creed Brothers in a Loser Leaves NXT match. The Creed Brothers are currently rumored to not be getting called up to the main roster despite losing the match.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that one source close to the situation spoken to stated that the Creed Bros are not getting called up and instead WWE will be doing a storyline angle to explain their return to NXT. Another source spoken to reportedly stated that WWE officials have yet to make any official decision regarding the Creed Bros status in NXT.
Fightful Select reported that their sources also confirmed that they have not heard of any plans for the Creed Bros to be getting called up to the main roster. It was reported that WWE officials currently do not have any creative plans in place for the team on the main roster.
More on Jerry McDevitt Dropping Out of MLW Lawsuit
As noted before, longtime WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt recently removed himself from representing WWE in the on-going antitrust lawsuit case by Major League Wrestling due to retirement-related reasons.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that the reason why WWE replaced law firm K&L Gates from their legal team instead of just having McDevitt drop out was due to issues related to a lot of stress within the company over Vince McMahon’s recent sexual harassment scandal, which included McMahon both leaving and later returning to the company. Those close to the situation reportedly stated that McDevitt was McMahon’s personal attorney and was involved in the secret NDA agreement and payout deals that later led to WWE’s Board of Directors launching an investigation against McMahon.
WWE officials reportedly were also very frustrated following the rejection of their motion to dismiss MLW’s amended lawsuit due to both the company and McDeviit had strongly believed that MLW’s lawsuit would have been thrown out again.
Meltzer reported that those involved in the lawsuit case were informed on June 28th of WWE changing their law firms representing the company and McDevitt no longer being involved in the legal case.
