Giulia Defeats Willow Nightingale for NJPW Strong Women’s Title

Wednesday’s NJPW Strong Independence Day Night 2 event for New Japan Pro Wrestling featured a NJPW Strong Women’s Championship match between Giulia and champion Willow Nightingale.

The finish to this match involved Nightingale hitting Giulia with a couple of lariats but when she tried to attempt a Babe With The Powerbomb, Giulia countered it with a Code Red for the near fall. Giulia then hit a Super Butterfly Suplex to Nightingale for another near fall. Nightingale tried to hit a lariat only for Giulia to counter it with a dodge and hit a knee strike to setup her Glorious Driver, which she managed to deliver for the pinfall victory to become the new NJPW Strong Women’s Champion.

Eddie Kingston Defeats KENTA for NJPW Strong Openweight Title

Wednesday’s NJPW Strong Independence Day Night 2 event for New Japan Pro Wrestling also featured a NJPW Strong Openweight Championship match between Eddie Kingston and champion KENTA.

The finish to this match involved KENTA hitting a double foot stomp to Kingston leading to Kingston kicking out and quickly applying a Stretch Plum while KENTA eventually struggled his way to the ropes for the rope break. KENTA blocked Kingston’s Uraken and countered with his own combo of strikes. KENTA then hoisted up Kingston for a GTS only for Kingston to escape and grab KENTA’s leg. This led to Kingston hitting a pair of spinning back fists and a stiff lariat flooring KENTA for a neat fall. Kingston then picked up KENTA and dropped him with a Northern Lights Bomb for the pinfall victory to become the new NJPW Strong Openweight Champion.
