Prior to the start of Thursday’s ROH TV show, Ring of Honor owner Tony Khan announced on Twitter that Mark Briscoe recently suffered an injury and has been pulled from next week’s Death Before Dishonor 2023 event.
Khan also stated that due to Claudio Castagnoli being busy with his preparations for the upcoming Blood & Guts match at next week’s AEW Dynamite show, he was unavailable to make an appearance on Thursday’s ROH TV show to address the situation.
Khan stated that as a result, an official announcement will be made following next week’s AEW Dynamite show in regards to the status of Castagnoli’s ROH World Championship match at Death Before Dishonor 2023.
Due to an injury reported this week, Mark Briscoe cannot be cleared to wrestle at ROH #DeathBeforeDishonor next Friday 7/21.

In regards to the nature of Briscoe’s injury, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources stated that Briscoe had suffered a serious knee injury and will need to undergo surgery to repair it.
In regards to the current card for ROH Death Before Dishonor 2023, the only match currently advertised is a ROH World Television Championship match of winner of the ROH TV title Eliminator tournament vs. Samoa Joe (c). This tournament began on Thursday’s ROH TV show and concludes at next week’s show with Dalton Castle and Shane Taylor facing off against each other in the finals.
