Ted DiBiase Jr. Welfare Embezzlement Criminal Case Update
As noted before, former WWE wrestler Ted DiBiase Jr. was charged this past April with several criminal charges by the United States Department of Justice over his involvement in embezzling welfare funds as part of a larger welfare scandal in the State of Mississippi.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that the Mississippi Southern District Court had approved a motion request by the Federal government on June 7th to delay the scheduled trial for DiBiase Jr. from its original start date of June 20th to a new date in the future based on recent court documents.
Johnson reported that the government had filed the motion request last month asking for more time for the discovery phase stating that “the discovery in this case is extensive and additional time is needed by both sides to review the case and to prepare for trial or negotiate a plea. The government submits that the ends of justice that will be served by taking such action outweigh the best interests of the public and the defendant in a speedy trial.”
Robbie Eagles on Almost Tearing ACL During ROH Match with Claudio Castagnoli & Potential of Working at Forbidden Door II
A recent episode of the Keepin’ It Strong Style podcast featured New Japan Pro Wrestling talent Robbie Eagles as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Eagles revealing that he almost suffered a torn ACL injury during his match against Claudio Castagnoli this past May for Ring of Honor.
“I just want to point out that I started with tape in the tournament, and then I progressed down to no tape… and that was a mental strategy because I could tell people were eyeing up my shoulder and being like ‘Something’s not right with Robbie on that shoulder.’ They’re correct because I wrestled Claudio Castagnoli for Ring of Honor about a week before I went to Super Juniors, and I actually almost tore my AC joint, so I had a pretty bad injury going into Super Juniors, and I was like, I might have to tap out of the tournament, but physiotherapists in Australia were great, and the trainers in New Japan taped up nice enough, and then it was almost like subterfuge, like I was goading people into thinking that my shoulder was worse than it was. By match three, there was no tape, and people were trying to, ‘Oh, is he still hurt? Should I go after his shoulder? What should I do?’ So it made them start second-guessing their own strategy. So I’m just pulling back the curtain for you a little bit there.”
Eagles also gave his thoughts about him potentially competing at AEW and NJPW’s co-promoted Forbidden Door event later this month in Toronto, Canada.
“Who knows, fellas? I can’t spill any beans. It’s definitely something that’s been on my list since Super Juniors last year. It’s just unfortunate that Wheeler Yuta’s not the Pure Champion anymore because he still owes me a title shot. Whether he’s got a championship belt around his waist, I’m still gonna demand that he owes me a title shot. He can get it to me however he likes.”
