As noted before, AEW CEO Tony Khan stated in a recent interview with the Rasslin podcast that AEW would not be doing a hard roster split for their Dynamite and Collision brands. Prior to his announcement, AEW officials had been undecided over their plans for a potential hard or soft roster split in the lead-up to the debut of their new Collision series.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that the reaction within AEW’s locker room over the potential roster split plans was mixed with several talent who were not happy that they would be missing out on signings and indie bookings. Other talent reportedly had a more happy reaction over their feeling that this would help minimize the backstage drama and squabbles in the company.
It was reported that while AEW officials had originally planned to do a hard split, several talents were informed that it would be a softer split and later were told that there would be some natural sharing between the rosters. Those spoken to within Warner Bros Discovery stated that they would prefer no roster split but anything could work under the right circumstances.
In regards to the “transfer portal” trademark, it was reported that this was originally planned to be used in relation to the roster split but this idea has been shelved for the time being.
