Edge Comments on Winning WWE’s New World Title Being Last Goal of His Career

Edge stated in a recent video post on Twitter that he currently has the goal of winning WWE’s new World Heavyweight Championship as the final goal for his wrestling career. Edge also stated that he would retire from wrestling once his potential title reign would be over.

“Hey, everybody. So this isn’t some kind of mapped-out wrestling promo or anything. I’m sitting in what is my second home, a wrestling ring, trying to get into some reps before SmackDown tomorrow night, where I face Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles.

I can’t say enough about those guys, I know AJ and I have had our differences in the past, and you know the history of me and Rey-Rey. Those two guys are the reason a lot of people are in our industry. I expect to have one hell of a match. I also expect to win it. I have to. Some people have been running around saying they’re going to finish their stories, right and good for them, but it made me think a little bit about my story—the introduction of the WWE Heavyweight Championship. If I look at that thing, it even looks like the title that I never lost. Looks like the big gold.

Twelve years ago, I was forced to give the thing up. I never had a chance to get it back. Now I have a chance, and it all comes full circle,” he continued. Now, this ride, it’s going to end sooner than later. Let’s face it, we all know that. I gotta get this done. It’s the last thing to do. It’s the period on the end of the sentence, right? This last sentence in the book. I gotta get that stuff out of the basement. I just gotta do it. You know, all of you that are watching this, I assume you’ve been with me on this ride, and I really appreciate it. It’s going to end soon, and I gotta end it right this time. There’s no better way to finish it than to win the World Championship and then, when I lose it, that’s it. I’m done. So Rey, AJ, bring your best tomorrow. I know you will. I can’t wait to see you in there, to be honest. Let’s tear it up.”

Brian Kendrick Confirms He Helped Train Bad Bunny for His Match at Backlash 2023

A recent episode of the Hitting The Turnbuckle podcast featured former WWE wrestler Brian Kendrick as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Kendrick confirming that Fightful’s report of him helping train Bad Bunny for his match against Damian Priest at this past Saturday’s Backlash 2023 event was true.

“It was for the Bad Bunny and Damian Priest match. The company brought me in, but it was because a few years back when they had their tag match, I worked with them. I think because of the comfort level we had built with Bunny and I, they requested me to come back for that.”

Kendrick also gave his thoughts on Bad Bunny and Logan Paul’s recent ring work performances for WWE.

“Yeah, I haven’t met Logan but I think both of them are very motivated. They want to be good at this. I know Bunny put in a lot of training, he was training for months. I thought the match was awesome.”

In a recent interview with Wrestle Binge, former WWE wrestler Savio Vega gave his thoughts about Bad Bunny’s performance at this past Saturday’s Backlash 2023 event and him hearing that WWE has potential plans for Bad Bunny for their upcoming SummerSlam 2023 event. Vega stated “He’s a natural. They take him step by step, all the way to the end, but he has the mentality. He has the power and hunger. He loves it and wants to make it good. On the other side you have Damian Priest taking care of him, carrying him big time. You maybe have to adjust here and there, of course, but one of the best things he has is respect for the ring and respect for the boys and the business. He kayfabes it big time. He has it. I hear they’re talking about SummerSlam for him. I don’t know. They know what they’re going to do, but Bad Bunny hit the ball out of the ballpark.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent interview with CNBC’s Squawk on the Street show, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson gave his thoughts about WWE’s sale to Endeavor and how the partnership between WWE’s Vince McMahon and Endeavor’s Ari Emanuel will go. Johnson stated “I see smooth sailing. They’ve known each other for a very long time. We all have, as a matter of fact, and I see smooth sailing with this. This has been a long time coming. Think about where Vince started. I often talk about my seven bucks moment, how I had seven bucks in my pocket when I was cut from the Canadian Football League. Vince had his seven bucks moment as well when he leveraged every dollar he had for the very first WrestleMania. Years later, he creates this merger with Ari that is in the billions of dollars. I see, when I say smooth sailing, these guys are adamant on creating an incredible conglomerate that is going to entertain the masses. Between WWE, UFC, Bullriding, and probably other things that are coming down the pipe, I’m excited about this merger.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
