More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for May 10th
The May 10th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a very large increase in overall viewership and a small increase in key demographic ratings but also suffered a slight decline in key demographic rankings.
AEW drew 877,000 viewers and a 0.32 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 9th place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s gains this week was due to the much larger than usual viewership in recent weeks for their final quarter hour and the large increase from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 23.4% compared to last week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the gains from their older key demographic viewership and Over 50 viewership groups, which were up 8.3% and 9.4% respectively compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the decline from their older female key demographic viewership group, which was down 7.6% compared to last week’s show, and the lower than usual first quarter hour viewership for the show due to the stiffer than usual sports competition that night.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the 2023 NBA Playoffs Game 5 of Miami Heat vs. New York Knicks drew 4,388,000 viewers on TNT, the 2023 NHL Playoffs Game 4 of Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Florida Panthers drew 1,210,000 viewers on ESPN, the MLB simulcast games of Boston vs. Atlanta and St. Louis vs. Chicago Cubs drew 155,000 viewers on MLB TV, Vanderpump Rules drew 1,437,000 viewers on Bravo, Dr. Pimple Popper drew 1,043,000 viewers on TLC, and Moonshiners drew 501,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.
