WWE: Logan Paul Contract Update, Michael Cole on Commentary Career Future, WrestleMania 39 News

Logan Paul WWE Contract Status Update

As noted before, Logan Paul’s contract with WWE is currently set to expire after this weekend’s WrestleMania 39 event in Inglewood, California.

A recent episode of BT Sport’s Ariel Helwani Meets show featured Paul as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Paul providing an update on the current status of his contract with WWE and being hopeful of signing a new deal with the company.

“I was contracted for a year to do two WrestleManias and, I think, five events … My life moves so fast and I don’t know what my stock will be in a year, and so it seems a little irresponsible to sign anything longer than year-long contracts.

Like, I don’t know, what’s gonna happen in a year. Last year, at this time, I had no idea I was gonna be a full-time, or even like, almost full-time wrestler, as like a staple of my career. And now I am.

So yeah, I don’t know. Hey, I mean, let’s be honest, brother, they’re gonna f**king renew my contract.”

Michael Cole Comments on Future of His WWE Commentary Career

A recent episode of the Sports Media with Richard Deitsch podcast had Michael Cole as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Cole’s thoughts on the future of his career as a WWE commentator.

“To toot my own horn a little bit, I’m very happy to have had the opportunity to do this for so long, to be here. People ask me all the time, ‘How long are you gonna do this for?’ I’ll tell you one thing, 30 years would be a really cool goal. That’s four years from now, but I can promise you this. I will get out before I slip. No disrespect to anyone else, but I’m not gonna be a 75 [or] 80-year-old man doing this week in and week out. I’ve busted my ass, I’ve made a really good living, and I want to be able to get out while the going’s good and still be able to enjoy the rest of my life. I don’t want to be a shell of myself. I don’t want to be that, ‘He used to be good. He’s not good anymore.’ I don’t want to be that person.”

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that WWE officials currently do not have any plans for Orton to compete in a match at the event. Fightful Select reported that neither Rhea Ripley nor Charlotte Flair have yet to be informed by WWE officials that their match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship will main event Night 1 of WrestleMania. It was reported that several people within the company have been recently pushing for the Undisputed Tag Team Championship match between Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens and The Usos to be the main event for the show.

Following his victory in this year’s Andre The Giant Battle Royal match at Friday’s SmackDown show in Los Angeles, California, Bobby Lashley stated on Twitter that he was issuing an open challenge for a match against anyone at WrestleMania 39. Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that while Lashley’s originally planned match against Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 39 was pulled due to Wyatt’s recently suffering a “physical illness,” WWE officials have held recent talks regarding Wyatt’s potential return to the company.
