Prior to tonight’s RAW show in Chicago, Illinois, WWE had announced that WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque would be making a huge announcement on the show. This announcement was rumored to either be the long rumored debut of a new WWE championship belt in the company or be related to this year’s upcoming WWE Draft.
As part of his promo segment on the show, Levesque revealed that his big announcement was the official debut of a new World Heavyweight Championship in WWE.
Levesque stated that due to contractual issues over Roman Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, WWE officials felt that they were left with no choice but to debut a new World title in the company. Levesque stated that WWE’s fans deserved to have a World Champion be regularly present on each of their RAW and SmackDown brands which he felt was something not being done by Reigns.
Levesque also stated that Reigns and his Undisputed WWE Universal title will become exclusive to whichever brand drafts him while the other brand will have this new World title be exclusive to them.
Levesque also stated that the inaugural champion for this new World Heavyweight title will be crowned at next month’s Night of Champions 2023 event in Saudi Arabia.
