AEW Rampage Week Viewership Update
As noted before, the March 17th episode of AEW Rampage drew 474,000 viewers, a 0.18 key demographic rating, and a #26 key demographic ranking on TBS. That week’s show was notable for airing at a later start time of 11:30PM EST due to TNT’s 2023 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament commitments.
This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter provided more viewership details that were unavailable in last week’s issue.
AEW Rampage quarter hour viewership breakdowns were:
- 1Q – 779,000 overall viewers and 374,000 key demo viewers (Bulk of the TNT Championship match of Rey Fenix vs. Powerhouse Hobbs (c))
- 2Q – 528,000 overall viewers and 244,000 key demo viewers (Ending of the TNT Championship match and post-match with QTV, the Adam Cole promo segment, and the Stu Grayson video promo segment)
- 3Q – 410,000 overall viewers and 192,000 key demo viewers (Taya Valkyrie vs. Eva Lawless match, the Stokely Hathaway & The Firm video segment, the Angelo Parker & Matt Menard vs. Bollywood Boyz match, and the Don Callis & Konosuke Takeshita video segment)
- 4Q – 363,000 overall viewers and 187,000 key demo viewers (The Gunns & Top Flight backstage segment and the Brody King vs. Daniel Garcia match)
More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for March 29th
The March 22nd episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a very large decline in overall viewership and a large decline in key demographic ratings.
AEW drew 833,000 viewers and a 0.28 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 4th place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to the large declines from their younger female key demographic viewership and older male key demographic viewership group, which were down 27.1% and 18.9% respectively compared to last week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the decline from their Over 50 viewership group, which was down 7.5% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the gains from their older female key demographic viewership group, which was up 9.5% compared to last week’s show.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Dallas Mavericks vs, Philadelphia 76ers drew 1,442,000 viewers on ESPN, the NHL game of New York Islanders vs. Washington Capitals drew 466,000 viewers, Vanderpump Rules drew 1,168,000 viewers on Bravo, and Moonshiners drew 668,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 370,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 96,000 viewers (down 13.5%), Females 18-34 had 51,000 viewers (down 27.1%), Males 35-49 had 154,000 viewers (down 18.9%), and Females 35-49 had 69,000 viewers (up 9.5%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 250,000 male viewers and 120,000 female viewers for a split of 67.6% in favor of males.
In terms of the one million viewership milestone, none of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 962,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 719,000 viewers for their eighth quarter.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 14.9% in overall viewership and down 24.8% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 13% compared to the same week last year.

- 2Q – 881,000 overall viewers and 388,000 key demo viewers (MJF & Perry promo segment and the Don Callis & Kenny Omega backstage segment)
- 3Q – 853,000 overall viewers and 371,000 key demo viewers (The Acclaimed, Billy Gunn, Matt Menard, & Angelo Parker video segment, the Trios match of Blackpool Combat Club vs. Dalton Castle & The Boys, and the Hangman Adam Page, Callis, & BCC backstage segment)
- 4Q – 835,000 overall viewers and 380,000 key demo viewers (IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship match of Jeff Cobb vs. Kenny Omega (c) and post-match brawl with Bryan Danielson & BCC)
- 5Q – 847,000 overall viewers and 387,000 key demo viewers (The Gunns video promo segment and the bulk of the AEW International Championship match of The Butcher vs. Orange Cassidy (c))
- 6Q – 820,000 overall viewers and 360,000 key demo viewers (Ending of the AEW International Championship match, the Jade Cargill backstage interview segment, the Juice Robinson video promo segment, and the first half of the Ruby Soho vs. Willow Nightingale match)
- 7Q – 747,000 overall viewers and 343,000 key demo viewers (Latter half of the Soho vs. Nightingale match and post-match with Outcasts, Riho, & Skye Blue, and the Powerhouse Hobbs video promo segment)
- 8Q – 719,000 overall viewers and 340,000 key demo viewers (Adam Cole vs. Daniel Garcia match and post-match with Chris Jericho)
More on AEW Rampage Viewership for March 25th
The March 25th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a very large drop in overall viewership and a large drop in key demographic ratings. That week’s episode was notable for being preempted from its normal Friday timeslot to a Saturday timeslot due to TNT’s United States Men’s National Team soccer commitments.
AEW drew 373,000 viewers and a 0.10 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 26th place.
Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to the prior week’s show having a larger than usual lead-in viewership due to the 2023 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and very stiff sports competition that night.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Milwaukee Bucks vs. Denver Nuggets drew 269,000 viewers on NBA TV, the 2023 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament game of UCONN vs. Gonzaga drew 7,985,000 viewers on TBS, UFC Fight Night drew 976,000 viewers on ESPN, Top Rank Boxing drew 639,000 viewers on ESPN, and On Patrol Live drew 827,000 viewers on REELZ.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 128,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that week’s Rampage show did not rank in the Top 10 youngest skewing sports show for the week while that week’s Dynamite was the fifth youngest skewed sports show, behind one World Baseball Classic game, one NBA game, the Mexico vs. Surinam soccer game, and the United States vs. Grenada soccer game.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 12.2% in overall viewership and down 28.6% in key demographic viewership.

- 3Q – 325,000 overall viewers and 112,000 key demo viewers (Ending of the Hager vs. King match, the Swerve Strickland & Tech9 backstage promo segment, and the Taya Valkyrie vs. Leila Gray match and post-match with Mark Sterling)
- 4Q – 330,000 overall viewers and 120,000 key demo viewers (The Acclaimed vs. The Kingdom)
