Komander Comments on Interest from AEW & WWE for Potential Contract

As noted before, Lucha Libre AAA talent Komander made his official debut for AEW earlier this month. Both AEW and WWE are currently interested in signing Komander to a potential contract with their respective company.

Sports Illustrated held a recent interview with Komander. One of the topics discussed included Komander’s thoughts on AEW and WWE’s recent interest towards him.

“It’s very humbling to hear that people want to know where I’m going next. That is a huge honor, to be spoken of in such a manner. I came from nothing. I had absolutely nothing. I did this because it is what I love to do. I understand that my career could be just like my rope walk—it could be a great success, or it could be a failure. No matter what happens, I’m always going to get back up. I never did this for the fame. I do it out of love. Whatever comes next is a blessing.”

Komander also gave his thoughts about his rope walk moonsault spot during his debut match in AEW.

“It is difficult, and I understand the risks, but that was my chance to show I belong in the major leagues. That was my shot to let the world know that Komander is here. I ran the ropes, I took a deep breath and then I went blank as soon as I jumped. It felt like I was flying in the sky. My state of mind, it was clear. Then, when I made contact with the other wrestlers, I waited for that audience reaction. Their reaction is what tells me if I nailed it or if I failed.”

FITE TV CEO Comments on Talks with MLW for Potential Streaming Deal

A recent episode of the Business of the Business podcast had FITE TV CEO Mike Weber as the guest. One of the topics discussed included FITE’s current plans to sign deals with more wrestling promotions for their streaming service.

“We’re in conversation with at least three or four more maintstream wrestling companies that will be moving onto there [FITE Plus], or hopefully moving on. It’s coming together pretty good …

We are working with AAA. We have a show with them March 15 and another in April, which are stand alone pay-per-views. We’ve been working with them for about the last year. Good people, we love working with them. Working some of the kinks out on communication, production, stuff like that. Probably the next step, hopefully by the end of this year, we’ll be able to start working with them, hopefully on Fite Plus. We have to get through some of these events with them. We have four events scheduled for this year. New Japan is in that same area. We’ve been working with New Japan for awhile, had a very succesful show with them in San Jose. We have their April event in DC. Working through some of the kinks on those events and then the next progression is to put past events on FITE Plus as well.”

Weber also gave his thoughts about the potential of FITE signing a streaming deal with Major League Wrestling in the future.

“We have attempted to try and work a deal together, and frankly just haven’t been able to. It doesn’t mean we won’t in the future. The door is wide open for the both of us, but it has to work for both of us. The deal has to make the right business sense. Their product is on the rise, we love their product. We have done, as recently as a few weeks ago, conversations about filling in the blanks as REELZ is just in the US. MLW Underground has interest internationally. Here we are, we have an international platform. MLW has great potential and we would love to have them on our platform, but we have to get a deal we’re both happy with.”

Mercedes Mone Comments on 2019-2020 Being One of the Best Years of Her Wrestling Career

Emerald City Con held their Emerald City Con 2023 event earlier this month in Seattle, Washington. Among the guests included Mercedes Mone for The Mandalorian cast panel at the event.

One of the topics discussed included Mone’s thoughts on 2019-2020 being one of the best year’s of her wrestling career. Mone also gave praise to her Mandalorian series castmates for inspiring her to remember what she brings to the table as a performer.

“I never experienced anything where you had to repeat yourself over and over and over and over. I’m so used to just one take, live and then go and just be like, okay, that’s my anxiety and stress but I know I can get it done but, to do it 20 times, maybe 40 times, great. Okay, now we have to change angles, now we have to do it 40-50 times from your left side, from the back, to the right, above you, behind you, underneath you. I never, ever experienced that so to do 14 hour days, I would just look at Katee (Sackhoff) and I would just be so blown away. I learned so much from you and I grew from watching you. I was just so empowered by everything you did on set. She knew Bo as a tea that she would go to Jon (Favreau) and Dave (Filoni) and be like, ‘I think Bo would do this or say this’ and I learned so much from Katee because I brought that back to wrestling. I’m like, you have to remember what you are and what you’re gonna bring to the table. You are the character. You’re gonna be this the rest of your life and bring it to people’s viewership so she knew so much about being a strong woman that I brought that back to wrestling and I felt that was like one of my best years in wrestling in 2019 and 2020 because of everything I learned from you and Bryce (Dallas Howard).”
