More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for March 8th
The March 8th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a small increase in overall viewership and key demographic ratings but also suffered a slight decline in key demographic rankings.
AEW drew 858,000 viewers and a 0.29 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 4th place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases this week was due to the large gain from their younger key demographic viewership, which was up 25.8% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the weaker than usual lead-in programming viewership from The Big Bang and small decline from their older key demographic viewership, which was down 2.1% compared to last week’s show.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Dallas Mavericks vs. New Orleans Pelicans drew 1,177,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Nebraska vs. Minnesota drew 555,000 viewers on Big Ten Network, the College basketball game of Wisconsin vs. Ohio State drew 557,000 viewers on Big Ten Network, the NHL game of Chicago Blackhawks vs. Detroit Red Wings drew 370,000 viewers on TNT, Sistas Series drew 1,035,000 viewers on BET, Vanderpump Rules drew 879,000 viewers on Bravo, and Moonshiners drew 708,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 380,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 100,000 viewers (up 38.9%), Females 18-34 had 51,000 viewers (up 6.3%), Males 35-49 had 175,000 viewers (down 1.7%), and Females 35-49 had 54,000 viewers (down 3.6%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 275,000 male viewers and 105,000 female viewers for a split of 72.4% in favor of males.
In terms of the one million viewership milestone, none of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 962,000 viewers for their second quarter while their quarter low was at 727,000 viewers for their seventh quarter.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 9.2% in overall viewership and down 26.4% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 7.4% compared to the same week last year.

- 3Q – 957,000 overall viewers and 433,000 key demo viewers (Ruby Soho interview segment, the Soho vs. Sky Blue match & post-match brawl with Toni Storm, Saraya, & Willow Nightingale, and the Hangman Adam Page backstage interview segment)
- 4Q – 884,000 overall viewers and 400,000 key demo viewers (MJF video promo segment, the FTR interview segment, the Jade Cargill backstage interview segment, and the bulk Jericho Appreciation Society vs. Top Flight & AR Fox Trios match)

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for March 3rd
The March 3rd episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a small decline in overall viewership and a slight decline in key demographic ratings and key demographic rankings.
AEW drew 394,000 viewers and a 0.10 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 32nd place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to the large decline from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 16.7% compared to the prior week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the small decline from their older key demographic viewership group, which was down 6.3% compared to the prior week’s show.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Memphis Grizzles vs. Denver Nuggets drew 1,240,000 viewers on ESPN, NASCAR Trucks Racing Las Vegas 2023 event drew 623,000 viewers on FS1, On Patrol Live drew 840,000 viewers on REELZ Channel, Aussie Gold Hunters: Mine drew 393,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, 90 Day Other Way drew 439,000 viewers on TLC, and Love After Lockup drew 491,000 viewers on WETV.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 130,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that week’s Rampage show did not rank in the Top 10 youngest skewing sports show for the week while that week’s Dynamite was the twenty-fourth youngest skewed sports show, behind 11 NBA games, 7 soccer games, 3 NFL Combine 2023 shows, 1 Formula 1 race, and 1 UFC event.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 27.7% in overall viewership and down 55.6% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 53.8% compared to the same week last year.
