WWE reportedly is currently expected to have the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match of Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns be the main event of Night 2 of WrestleMania 39, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
In regards to the main event of Night 1 of WrestleMania 39, Dave Meltzer reported that his sources stated that WWE officials have yet to make an official decision but as of the time of his report, the SmackDown Women’s Championship match of Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair is currently the favorite to main event Night 1. Meltzer reported that some WWE officials have recently been pushing for a women’s match to headline one of the nights for political and sponsors reasons after last year’s WrestleMania 38 event had a men’s match headline both nights. Meltzer speculated that the other potential favorite to headline Night 1 would be the Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens vs. The Usos match should WWE go ahead with their plans for it.
In regards to the Rhodes vs. Reigns match, Meltzer reported that WWE has not made any official decision regarding the booking for the match beyond their view of Reigns remaining as the top star for the company after WrestleMania 39.
In regards to Brock Lesnar vs. Omos, Meltzer reported that the reason for this potential match is due to WWE officials had changed their WrestleMania 39 plans for Lesnar over this past week or two.
In regards to the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, Meltzer reported that Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey are still currently planned to be the challengers for the titles at WrestleMania 39. Meltzer speculated that due to the recent announcement of Lita & Becky Lynch challenging for the titles next week on RAW, WWE officials might have recently changed their plans on who would be the champions to face off against Baszler and Ronda at the event.
In regards to unannounced matches, Meltzer reported that WWE officials still have plans for a match between Dominik Mysterio and Rey Mysterio to take place on one of the nights for WrestleMania 39.
