WWE: Dropped Plans for Demon Balor Return, John Cena Set for March 6th RAW, Elimination Chamber News

WWE Reportedly Had Plans for Demon Balor Return at Royal Rumble 2023

WWE reportedly had plans at one point for the return of Finn Balor’s “Demon Balor” character at last month’s Royal Rumble 2023 event, according to Fightful Select.

It was reported that their sources confirmed the reports that WWE officials had worked on plans this past December for the return of Balor’s Demon Balor character for a gimmick match against Edge this past January’s Royal Rumble 2023 event. Those plans were postponed due to schedule issues with Edge’s filming commitments at the time.

These plans were later dropped due to some WWE officials had felt that Demon Balor would not fit in with the current version of Judgement Day and were against the idea for the character’s return. Other WWE officials reportedly felt that Demon Balor’s return would have brought some extra interest and buzz for Edge’s current feud with Balor and Judgement Day.

John Cena Return Announced for March 6th RAW Show

WWE recently announced in an email that John Cena will be making an appearance at their March 6th RAW show in Boston, Massachusetts.

JOHN CENA TO APPEAR LIVE IN BOSTON!

16-Time World Champion John Cena will appear LIVE at TD Garden in Boston, MA for the 3/6/23 edition of Monday Night RAW.

One would think this sets up Cena’s angle for Wrestlemania 39.

This will be Cena’s first appearance in WWE since the December 30th SmackDown show in Tampa, Florida and his first appearance for WWE’s RAW brand since the June 27, 2022 episode, which was the John Cena 20-Year Anniversary themed special.

WWE Elimination Chamber 2023 News & Notes

WWE’s Elimination Chamber 2023 event this past Saturday in Montreal, Canada reportedly generated around 200,000 searches and a #5 ranking on Google for that day, according to the Wrestling Observer.

This past Saturday’s Elimination Chamber 2023 event featured Asuka defeating Carmella, Raquel Rodriguez, Nikki Cross, Natayla, and Liv Morgan in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match. WrestleOps reported that as a result of her victory, Asuka became the first ever woman and fifth ever person to win a Royal Rumble match, a Money in the Bank match, and an Elimination Chamber match in WWE history. It was reported that John Cena, Randy Orton, Edge, and Brock Lesnar are the only other people who have achieved this same achievement in WWE.

WWE recently released a behind-the-scenes video for the Women’s Chamber Elimination match that took place at this past Saturday’s event.

Sami Zayn recently posted a photo on Twitter showing off the welts and bruises on his back from the chair shots he received at the hands of Roman Reigns during their match at the event.

Former WWE talent JTG revealed on Twitter that he was in attendance at this past Saturday’s event.
