More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for February 8th
The February 8th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a small decline in key demographic rankings and a slight decline in overall viewership and key demographic ratings. This week’s show was notable for being the Championship Night themed special.
AEW drew 899,000 viewers and a 0.30 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 5th place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines this week was due to the large decline from their older key demographic viewership group, which was down 11.1% compared to last week’s show. Another reason reportedly was the stiffer than usual competition from NBA and MTV’s Challenge series that night. This reportedly offset the gains from their younger key demographic viewership and Over 50 viewership groups, which were up 7.6% and 2.6% respectively compared to last week’s show.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics drew 1,678,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Iowa State vs. West Virginia drew 541,000 viewers on ESPN2, the College basketball game of Florida vs. Alabama drew 306,000 viewers on ESPN2, the NHL game of Minnesota Wild vs. Dallas Stars drew 241,000 viewers on TNT, Sistas Series drew 955,000 viewers on BET, and Challenge: Ride or Dies drew 669,000 viewers on MTV.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 386,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 106,000 viewers (up 6%), Females 18-34 had 63,000 viewers (up 10.5%), Males 35-49 had 149,000 viewers (down 18.1%), and Females 35-49 had 68,000 viewers (up 9.7%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 255,000 male viewers and 131,000 female viewers for a split of 66.1% in favor of males.
In terms of the one million viewership milestone, two of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 1,049,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 779,000 viewers for their seventh quarter.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 20.4% in overall viewership and down 28.7% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was up 5% compared to the same week last year.

- 2Q – 1,000,000 overall viewers and 415,000 key demo viewers (Ending of the Takeshita vs. MJF match and post-match angle with Bryan Danielson, the Samoa Joe video promo segment, the AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator match of The Bunny vs. Jamie Hayter, and the Toni Storm, Saraya, & Levi Bates backstage segment)
- 3Q – 941,000 overall viewers and 397,000 key demo viewers (MJF backstage promo segment and the bulk of the Garcia-Guevara Gauntlet match with Ricky Starks)
- 4Q – 869,000 overall viewers and 383,000 key demo viewers (Ending of the Garcia-Guevara Gauntlet match with Starks and the Acclaimed & Billy Guun backstage interview segment)
- 5Q – 923,000 overall viewers and 383,000 key demo viewers (Bulk of the Danielson vs. RUSH match)

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for February 3rd
The February 3rd episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a large decline in overall viewership and a small decline in key demographic ratings and key demographic rankings.
AEW Rampage drew 406,000 viewers and a 0.11 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 28th place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to the large declines from their female key demographic viewership, younger key demographic viewership, and older key demographic viewership groups, which were down 43.1%, 14.9%, and 23.2% respectively compared to the prior week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the decline from their Over 50 viewership group, which was down 4.5% compared to the prior week’s show.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the Top Ranked Boxing Navarrette vs. Wilson boxing event drew 430,000 viewers on ESPN, On Patrol Live drew 756,000 viewers on REELZ Channel, Aussie Gold Hunters: Mine drew 393,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, and Love After Lockup drew 534,000 viewers on WETV.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 149,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 108,000 male viewers (down 5.1%) and 41,000 female viewers (down 32.4%) for a split of 72.5% in favor of males. Meltzer also reported that week’s Rampage show did not rank in the Top 10 youngest skewing sports show for the week while that week’s Dynamite was the tenth youngest skewed sports show, behind Top Ranked Boxing show, one College basketball game, four NBA games, NHL All-Star 2023 Skills game, and two soccer games.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 24.8% in overall viewership and down 43.3% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 10% compared to the same week last year.
