More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for February 1st
The February 1st episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a large decline in overall viewership and a slight decline in key demographic ratings but also gained a slight increase in key demographic rankings.
AEW drew 901,000 viewers and a 0.31 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 2nd place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines this week was due to the large declines from their older female key demographic viewership, older key demographic viewership, and Over 50 viewership groups, which were down 21.5%, 9.3%, and 11.4% respectively compared to last week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the large decline from their younger female key demographic viewership group, which was down 9.5% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the gain from their younger male key demographic viewership group, which was up 12.4% compared to last week’s show.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Brooklyn Nets vs. Boston Celtics drew 1,036,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Oklahoma State vs. Oklahoma drew 370,000 viewers on ESPN2, the College basketball game of Tennessee vs. Florida drew 493,000 viewers on ESPN2, the NHL game of Carolina Hurricanes vs. Buffalo Sabres drew 320,000 viewers on TNT, Sistas Series drew 1,026,000 viewers on BET, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City drew 663,000 viewers on Bravo, and Challenge: Ride or Dies drew 551,000 viewers on MTV.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 401,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 100,000 viewers (up 12.4%), Females 18-34 had 57,000 viewers (down 9.5%), Males 35-49 had 182,000 viewers (down 4.2%), and Females 35-49 had 62,000 viewers (down 21.5%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 282,000 male viewers and 119,000 female viewers for a split of 70.3% in favor of males.
In terms of the one million viewership milestone, two of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 1,065,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 783,000 viewers for their seventh quarter.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 5.6% in overall viewership and down 12.1% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was up 3.3% compared to the same week last year.

- 3Q – 995,000 overall viewers and 469,000 key demo viewers (The Butcher, The Blade, The Bunny, Jamie Hayter, Saraya, Toni Storm, & Britt Baker backstage segment, The Acclaimed vs. The Outrunners match and post-match angle with The Gunns, and the bulk of the Brian Cage vs. Konosuke Takeshita match)
- 4Q – 849,000 overall viewers and 392,000 key demo viewers (Ending of the Cage vs. Takeshita match, the Jericho Appreciation Society backstage promo segment, and the Elite, Matt Hardy, & Ethan Page video promo segment)
- 5Q – 853,000 overall viewers and 390,000 key demo viewers (Bulk of the Brian Danielson vs. Timothy Thatcher match)

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for January 27th
The January 27th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a slight decline in overall viewership and key demographic rankings but gained a slight increase in key demographic ratings.
AEW Rampage drew 458,000 viewers and a 0.14 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 22nd place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s mixed results that week was due to the declines from their older key demographic viewership and Over 50 viewership groups, which were down 5.6% and 8.3% respectively compared to the prior week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the large decline from their male key demographic viewership group, which was down 7.3% compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the large gains from their female key demographic viewership and younger key demographic viewership groups, which were up 56.5% and 10% respectively compared to the prior week’s show.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Toronto Raptors vs. Golden State Warriors drew 634,000 viewers on NBA TV, the College basketball game of Oakland vs. Youngstown State drew 198,000 viewers on ESPN2, On Patrol Live drew 920,000 viewers on REELZ Channel, and Love After Lockup drew 587,000 viewers on WETV.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 187,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 115,000 male viewers (down 7.3%) and 72,000 female viewers (up 56.5%) for a split of 61.5% in favor of males. Meltzer also reported that week’s Rampage show did not rank in the Top 10 youngest skewing sports show for the week while that week’s Dynamite was the twelfth youngest skewed sports show, behind four NBA games, two X Games 2023 telecasts, four soccer games, and one NHL game.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 23.8% in overall viewership and down 42.1% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was up 10% compared to the same week last year.
