Tony Khan Comments on Expecting “Big Increases” for AEW’s Next Media Rights Deal
Uproxx Sports held a recent interview with AEW CEO Tony Khan. One of the topics discussed included Khan’s thoughts on his current expectations for AEW’s next media rights deal.
“I expect big increases in the rights for the AEW programs and we’re on a good pace to make a very lucrative deal for the AEW media rights going forward.”
Khan also gave his thoughts on the growing interest for a new streaming service from AEW.
“We’ve done 174 episodes of Dynamite, 80 episodes of AEW Rampage, our 17th pay-per-view event will be March 5 in Revolution, so we’ve done hundreds and hundreds of hours of AEW content in our library. I also purchased Ring of Honor last year, which is a great promotion with over 20 years of history, thousands of hours of video in their library. So overall, AEW has access to so many great wrestling events, including some events that are widely considered to be some of the best wrestling events of all time. There’s a lot of interest in this library as well as the new weekly content we continue to produce each week, and I do think there’s a lot of demand for the library and it makes a lot of sense for us to try to make that AEW library available to fans all over the world on demand.”
Arn & Brock Anderson’s AEW Contracts Status Update
WrestlingNewsPremium.com held a recent interview with Arn Anderson. One of the topics discussed included Anderson stating that his current contract with AEW expires in late 2024 while his son Brock’s contract expires this May.
“Well, Brock’s got about, I think in May his is up, and then I have another year passed that. I’m having a great time. I’m enjoying working for the company and I’m going to certainly get that last year now. What they have for Brock and I together going forward, I don’t know. I look at things and always have going all the way back to WCW when contracts came out. When you get a guaranteed contract, your wife has the luxury of planning your life because they do it anyway. To know much time and it’s not something that’s not going to change and all that, you can map your life out. That gives me another year and a half almost to help Brock every which way I can.
I will stay with AEW as long as they want me. That’s my one thing, and I said that after I left, well, I was canned by WWE. I don’t want to be anywhere that I’m not wanted anyway, not for one minute, not for any amount of money, not for one second.
If at the end of the contract, if they would like for me to stay aboard in some limited capacity, I would love to.”
Jamie Hayter Comments on Match with Hikaru Shida This Past December & Wanting a Rematch at a AEW PPV
Dark Puroresu Flowsion held a recent interview with Jamie Hayter. One of the topics discussed included Hayter’s thoughts on her AEW Women’s World Championship match against Hikaru Shida at AEW’s Dynamite Holiday Bash 2022 show this past December. Hayter also gave her thoughts about being interested in a rematch with Shida at a future AEW pay-per-view event.
“I would happily wrestle Shida, she is the real deal. She almost made me believe I might not beat her. But I loved the challenge. I think doing it on a bigger stage at a PPV will make things much more intense and raise the stakes even higher. Having that ‘big match feel’ always escalates the situation and I think she has even more to give. I want the challenge.”
I spoke with Jamie Hayter about Miyu Yamashita, her Shida match, & desired STARDOM matchups “I feel like it would be interesting to step into a ring with talent I’ve wrestled before to see how much we have grown and evolved. Someone like Utami for instance” pic.twitter.com/qLxiusI23G
