As noted before, WWE’s plans for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to work at their upcoming WrestleMania 39 event this April in Inglewood, California is currently in serious doubt. These plans included the potential of Johnson facing off against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that WWE has been working on new plans for a potential match between “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.
WWE officials reportedly recently contacted Austin to gauge his interest in working at WrestleMania 39. Those spoken to reportedly stated that WWE made an “enormous” monetary offer to Austin that is worth more than what Austin made for his match against Kevin Owens at last year’s WrestleMania 38 event.
It was also reported that WWE officials had contacted Austin this past Summer over the idea of him potentially working another match but it was “not as appealing from a financial standpoint.”
Those spoken to within WWE reportedly stated that they currently do not know if Austin has accepted or rejected WWE’s offer for a WrestleMania 39 match.
