WWE RAW 30 News: Reason for Change to Advertised Cage Match, Match Producers, More News

WWE Reportedly Made Major Changes to Original Plans for RAW 30 Show

Monday’s WWE RAW 30th anniversary show in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was originally advertised to feature a cage match between Becky Lynch and Bayley. This match ended up not taking place as advertised and instead saw Damage CTRL attack Lynch before it could start resulting in the match being thrown out.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that WWE officials made major changes to their original plans for Monday’s show due to the “Trial of Sami Zayn” segment had gone well past its alloted time. This reportedly caused other segments planned for the show to be trimmed for time with the cage match being affected the most.

The Lynch vs. Bayley cage match reportedly was originally planned to be two segments in length, including entrances, but WWE officials made the decision to scrap the match and do an angle instead due to the show running behind time.

WWE RAW 30 News & Notes

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that Vince McMahon was not seen in attendance backstage during Monday’s RAW 30 show.

The Undertaker recently reflected on Twitter about his appearance as the “American Badass” Undertaker on Monday’s show.

WWE announced on Twitter that Monday’s show broke the all-time record for highest ever domestic live gate for a RAW show in RAW series history.

As noted before, The Bella Twins were originally advertised to make an appearance at Monday’s show. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that the reason for the Bella Twins’ absence from the show is currently rumored to be due to a dispute over WWE’s plans for them and not wanting to acknowledge Mercedes Mone (Sasha Banks in WWE) and Saraya’s (Paige in WWE) contributions to the Women’s Revolution on the show. In an Instagram Live video, the Bella Twins stated:

Nikki Bella – “Another good memory on Raw. How didn’t they showcase anything from the women’s evolution?”

Brie Bella – “Also, the way we did our matches on there —”

Nikki – “Because Sasha Banks is in it and they’re like, we can’t. Mercedes is too over and we can’t say her name.”

Brie – “There’s a couple other girls and ‘Raya. There’s a bunch of us they don’t wanna show. That’s fine.”

Nikki – “That’s fine. When you do what they don’t wanna do…”

Brie – “It’s not what you don’t do, it’s what you do-do.”
