As noted before, Jay Briscoe, real name Jamin Pugh, passed away this past Tuesday following a car accident in Delaware. This accident claimed the life of the driver of a second car and left Pugh’s two daughters hospitalized in critical condition.
Josh Wharton, friend of the Pugh family, recently provided an update on Facebook regarding the current health and injury status of Pugh’s daughters.
Last night, Jay’s oldest daughter Gracie had a “rough night” of lots tingling and itching in her lower legs after having a surgery to repair a dislocated hip. She began occupational therapy today and has regained feeling in her lower extremities. She has started to make movements in her lower extremities using her thigh muscles. She has a long way to go, but this was a major, positive step. Gracie was able to get up and sit in a wheelchair today. She is now taking oral pain medications and is no longer on an IV. She is “still groggy” from all the medications and has been getting a lot of sleep.
JJ, Briscoe’s nine-year old is still dealing with a lot of pain but was fitted with a back brace today. She was able to get up and sit on the side of her bed and spent some time in a wheelchair today, getting her out of the bed for a little bit. She still has an NG tube in place, thus she is still unable to eat or drink. Doctors are hopeful that it can be removed tomorrow to allow her to return to eating normal foods. She remains on an IV and has spent most of the last few days sleeping.
As noted before, Warner Bros Discovery rejected AEW’s request to air a tribute show to the late Jay Briscoe on TBS this past Wednesday. In a recent Q&A article, PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that the general feeling backstage prior to the start of this past Wednesday’s Dynamite show was one of AEW believing that they would only be allowed very little in the form of an on-air tribute to Briscoe. This reportedly is due to WBD’s current edict against the Briscoe Brothers appearing in any form on AEW programming on their networks over past online homophobic comments made by the late Briscoe.
As noted before, ROH taped a special trbute show for Jay Briscoe this past Wednesday in Fresno. The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported in Sunday’s Daily Update that his sources stated that ROH officials have yet to make a decision on when this tribute show will be uploaded to ROH’s HonorClub and YouTube channel.
A fan-made tribute display to the late Jay Briscoe was recently set up outside of the Manhattan Center in New York City. ROH’s official Twitter account recently requested for the person(s) who setup the tribute to contact them so that they could give their appreciation for their work. This person later revealed himself on Twitter under the user name of @BasedSalvy and stated that he had setup more tributes to Briscoe at other venues in the city.
The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported in Sunday’s Daily Update that Jay Briscoe’s passing was the most search term for wrestling on Google this past week. Briscoe’s passing reportedly generated around 500,000 searches and a #1 ranking on Google this past Tuesday.
