As noted before, Jay Briscoe, real name Jamin Pugh, passed away this past Tuesday following a car accident in Delaware. This accident claimed the life of the driver of a second car and left Pugh’s two daughters hospitalized in critical condition.
Friend of the Pugh family Josh Wharton provided another update on Facebook regarding the current health and injury status of Pugh’s daughters. This newest update also included an update on Mark Briscoe’s status since the passing of his real life brother.
“Gracie, 12, has worked with physical and occupational therapy over the last several days and continues to work towards her goals. Her therapist says her strength is improving and she is able to assist with some knee bends and in and outs with her legs. Today, she assisted with her transfer into the wheel chair using a slide board. Her pain has been much more under control. She was able to be up for awhile and play some games and watch movies throughout the day. She is making huge improvements, has regained feeling below her knees, but has not moved anything below her knees.
Jayleigh, 9, Saturday night her NG tube was removed and Sunday morning she was able to eat and drink as much as she pleases. She is so much happier. Today, she worked with physical and occupational therapy and did her first stand transfer into her wheelchair. The girls were able to spend a little quality time together today. After getting in her bed, her wound vac on her abdominal incision was removed. She now only has to worry about her braces and external fixation on her leg. She was about to work with an art therapist.
I called Mark just about a half hour ago and we talked. I told him the community cares about him and we wanted to make sure he was alright and if there was anything we could. He answered the phone, just the most chipper I’ve ever heard him. That’s an upbeat family in this time of tragedy. The one thing that stuck out to me, he said, ‘I can’t imagine going through this not being a believer.’ He realizes that our time here on Earth is a small glimpse in existence. He realizes that we’re going to see him again and he’s hoping to use that as a tool to motivate people to get into heaven with us. Use Jamin’s untimely death as a witness almost to get people into heaven with him. He sent a text that says, ‘GOD IS ON THE THRONE. That’s all I got bro.’ The man has been through a lot and he still has his faith. He’s going to carry on the Pugh and Briscoe name proudly.
I’ve not talked to anyone in AEW, but according to the family, they’ve been nothing but top notch and supportive.”
Wharton also provided an official statement from the Pugh family asking for fans of the Briscoes to stop spreading ill will online towards the woman of the other vehicle involved in the accident that led to her and Pugh’s deaths. The family also asked for fans to help donate to the woman’s fundraiser to help support the two children she leaves behind.
“It’s been a tough week for our community, but also has been heartwarming to see the outpouring of love towards the Pugh family during this tragedy. Once again-Jamin touched so many lives across the world and that has been evident by the daily tributes, comments and love we’ve all witnessed. The girls are still progressing, as God continues to hear all of our prayers.
Unfortunately this has not been the case for the other family, as there have been numerous rumors and information out there-which has led to attacking/degrading comments on social media that the family has seen. Her children will read these at some point.
Jamin, Ashley, the Pugh family, myself and K.c. do not stand for this. In a time of tragedy, pointing fingers does not reverse what has been done.
The driver of the other vehicle has 2 young children, and we all should be showing the same love and compassion for them as we have done for the Pugh’s. Be reminded that their world has also been turned upside down undeservingly, and there is a huge hole left in their family.
I am sincerely asking that everyone stop with the negative comments and feelings towards them. Let me remind you all that none of us, and I know myself better than anyone-have things we are not proud of. We all struggle with something.
To judge an entire life by the outcome of this tragedy is not who we are. Only love can conquer hate. Instead of expressing harsh feelings, pray for them.”
Pugh’s wife Ashely also gave an official statement on Facebook stating for fans to offer their support to the family of the woman who was killed in the accident.
“Please pray for the precious babies who also lost their mother. Josh could not have put this into better words. We can not be angry. This was all Gods timing. Jamin’s life had a great purpose and we are watching it all be played out. I can’t even put into words the outpouring of love and support we are experiencing. We are so thankful and blessed!”
Ring of Honor recently released an official tribute shirt to Briscoe on AEW’s official AEWShop online store. It was stated that all proceeds generated will go directly towards supporting Pugh’s family.
Monday’s episode of Being The Elite included a segment featuring The Young Bucks paying tribute and reflecting on their time working with the late Briscoe.
