Jay Briscoe’s Passing Update – Briscoe’s Daughters Health Update, Fundraiser Reaches Goal, ROH Plans, More Tributes

As noted before, Jay Briscoe, real name Jamin Pugh, passed away this past Tuesday following a car accident in Delaware. This accident claimed the life of the driver of a second car and left Pugh’s two daughters hospitalized in critical condition.

Friend of the Pugh family Josh Wharton provided an update on Facebook regarding the current health and injury status of Pugh’s daughters.

“Jayleigh, 9, has had pain on and off today. She was fitted for her back brace and sat up on the side of the bed with assistance from staff. She was moved into a wheelchair for about an hour. Unfortunately, she still has the NG tube in place and is unable to eat or drink at this time. They are hoping that tomorrow they can take the tube out so she can eat some real food. She’s still on IV medications and spends most of her days sleeping.

Gracie, 12, had a rough night with lots of tingling and itching in her lower legs. Today, she started the day with occupational therapy and she has regained feeling in her lower extremities. She is also able to make movements in her lower extremities. She was able to make small movements with her legs by using her thigh muscle. We are so grateful, she was up in a wheelchair multiple times, which she enjoys. All of Gracie’s IV medications have been discontinued at this time and she has been switched over to oral pain medicine. She is still groggy from all the medication and lots of sleeping.

At this time, rehab is recommended for both girls. Although both girls have improvements today, they both have a long road of recovery ahead of them.”

In regards to the fundraiser recently launched to support Pugh’s family, Wharton stated that the fundraiser has already reached and surpass its goal of $200,00. At the time of this report, $248,464 has been raised to help financially support Pugh’s family.

As noted before, Ring of Honor taped a special tribute show honoring the life and legacy of Pugh following this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite and Rampage tapings in Fresno, California. Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that ROH owner Tony Khan is currently working on plans for a separate tribute honoring Pugh to be aired as the first episode of ROH TV for its relaunch. Khan reportedly is also currently working on plans for a third tribute to Pugh to take place at this year’s Supercard of Honor event on March 31st in Los Angeles, California.

Prior to the start of today’s NJPW x NOAH Wrestle Kingdom 17 event in Yokohama Arena, New Japan Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling NOAH held a tribute and ten bell salute in honor of Pugh.

Besides NJPW and NOAH, Impact Wrestling also held a ten bell salute in honor of Pugh prior to the start of Friday’s Impact tapings in Orlando, Florida.
