As noted before, WWE co-CEO Stephanie McMahon officially resigned from WWE on Tuesday. McMahon’s announcement came four days after WWE had officially announced the return of her father Vince McMahon to the company and his previous role as the Executive Chairman of their Board of Directors.
Fightful Select reported that their sources confirmed that Nick Khan will remain as WWE’s sole CEO and Paul “Triple H” Levesque will remain as WWE’s Chief Content Officer.
In regards to McMahon’s departure, it was reported that those spoken to described McMahon’s departure as her resuming her leave of absence that she had taken last year and had only returned due to Vince’s departure from the company. McMahon reportedly has remained well liked backstage among staff and talent spoken to. It was reported that WWE CEO Nick Khan has also been well liked within the company based on those spoken to as well.
It was reported that during WWE’s employees meeting this past Friday, McMahon had let out some of her personal feelings about her father’s return to the company stating that “there’s naturally some animosity” before correcting her wording to “angst” to describe her situation.
In regards to the backstage reaction, it was reported that the general reaction from WWE’s locker room was one of uncertainty. One talent spoken to reportedly stated that they currently feel that should Vince resume handling WWE’s creative duties, it will only led to public frustrations within WWE’s locker room. Another talent spoken to reportedly stated that they are currently hopeful that a sale will be taking place soon based on the recent big changes to WWE’s Board.
