As noted before, former WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon retired from the company this past July. WWE announced earlier this week that they have recently completed their investigation against McMahon over allegations of sexual misconduct and secret “hush money” payments towards several former female employees and at least one talent.
The Wall Street Journal reported that McMahon is currently facing new legal demands from two women over his sexual misconduct and assult accusations.
It was reported that on November 3rd, McMahon’s lawyer Jerry McDevitt received a letter from the lawyer of former WWE referee Rita Chatterton demanding $1.75 million in damages over her accusations against McMahon.
McDevitt reportedly also received a separate letter in the same month from the lawyer of a former spa manager stating that McMahon had sexually assaulted this woman in 2011 at a California resort. It was reported that this incident was previously not publicly known about.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that McMahon recently told others that he refuses to pay any settlements to Chatterton and the former spa manager over their accusations against him. It was also reported that WWE’s auditor Deloitte & Touche LLP recently informed the company that they would likely need to publicly disclose any resolution to these claims even if it was settled confidentially.
Those spoken to reportedly also stated that McMahon currently is planning on making a potential return to WWE in the future. McMahon reportedly currently feels that he was given bad advice from people close to him to step down from the company. McMahon reportedly also currently believes that he should have stayed in the company since he feels that the accusations and investigation against him would have blown over by now.
In regards to Chatterton’s letter, it was reported that it stated that the damages to Ms. Chatterton from the alleged rape incident were “hard to overstate” and she “has suffered years of ongoing depression, substance abuse, disordered eating, lost income, and overall a decreased quality of life.”
Former wrestlers Greg Valentine, real name John Wisniski, and Mario Mancini, real name Leonard Inzitari, reportedly told the WSJ that Chatterton had disclosed her allegations against McMahon after the alleged rape incident. Mancini was stated to have believed Chatterton’s claims while Valentine was stated to not have believed her claims then and now “because he didn’t think she was attractive enough for Mr. McMahon.”
In regards to the incident with the former spa manager, it was reported that this incident took place when WWE was in town for an event and she had filed a police report afterwards. The woman reportedly also informed her husband about the incident, which led to him driving to the WWE event with a baseball bat and had tried to confront McMahon but was turned away. The lawyer of this woman reportedly has been in contact with McMahon’s lawyer since this past July based on those spoken to close to the situation.
