As noted before, Miro has been absent from AEW since this past September. The reason for Miro’s absence is believed to be due to issues involving creative plans between the two sides.
Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources stated that the reason behind Miro’s continued absence from AEW programming is believed to be due to him not wanting to do a job for a potential pay-per-view type feud. Meltzer reported that AEW officials had presented Miro with creative plans this past September for a feud that would have lead into their Full Gear 2022 pay-per-view event but Miro rejected the idea.
Meltzer also reported that a lot of former WWE talents currently have the rep within AEW of being very leery when it comes to doing jobs for others.
“In September, they came to him, Tony Khan came to Miro and he had this idea which would build to a match on the November 19 pay-per-view and [Miro] didn’t want to do it.
It’s weird, a lot of people who come from WWE are very leery, obviously, Bryan Danielson being the exception, about doing jobs. Then it becomes very difficult to book when you don’t really want to do programs where you are going to lose.”
Meltzer also reported that AEW officials did have plans to continue to offer creative ideas for Miro after their Full Gear 2022 event in order to get him back on AEW television. Meltzer speculated that recent comments made by Miro’s wife CJ Perry, former Lana in WWE, might hinder it from happening.
In a recent interview with radio station 92.7 WMAY, Perry teased that Miro could be heading back to WWE once his current deal with AEW expires.
” Well, you know, it so happens that the Redeemer is fighting on some battlefields against a couple of Gods. Rusev Day will never die. It’s always going to be around, the kids are going to want to sing it and I’m sure it will make a return in WWE at some point. Rusev — well, whatever he shows [up] back in; whatever frickin name or gimmick or character he returns [as] at some point, in WWE is going to be iconic. You know, he, that’s the great thing about wrestling is it doesn’t matter what company you work for, what promotion, anything can happen. Let’s be honest, we know that everyone always returns back to WWE at some point.”
