As noted before, this past November’s AEW Full Gear 2022 event is currently estimated to have generated around 140,000 pay-per-view buys.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW is currently estimated to have generated somewhere between 137,000 to 140,000 PPV buys for their Full Gear 2022 event based on updated data and estimates. Meltzer reported that due to some issues with data from traditional cable and satellite television PPV providers in the United States, the actual range for PPV buys might be slightly lower than 137,000 to a number significantly higher than 140,000.
Meltzer reported that based on current hard numbers from traditional cable and satellite providers, Full Gear 2022 was up 16.2% in buys compared to this past September’s All Out 2022 event, up 24.3% compared to this past June’s co-promoted Forbidden Door event, and down 9.3% compared to this past May’s Double or Nothing 2022 event. For some comparisons, Meltzer reported that Forbidden Door managed to generate around 140,000 buys while All Out 2022 is currently estimated to have generated 140,000 buys but could be much higher based on current trends.
In regards to streaming buys, Meltzer reported that Full Gear 2022 was down 7% compared to All Out 2022. Full Gear 2022 reportedly also saw a large bump in late streaming purchases but this was also down 0.1% compared to All Out 2022.
In regards to comparisons with past Full Gear events, Meltzer reported that Full Gear 2021 generated around 100,000 buys while Full Gear 2022 generated around 90,000 buys.
