Lucha Libre AAA reportedly is currently expected to strip Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo of their AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship at their event later today in Acapulco, Mexico, according to the Wrestling Observer.
Dave Meltzer reported that his sources stated that the reason for AAA’s decision is due to repeated issues revolving around Guevara and Melo’s inability to work at their recent events. Meltzer reported that the visa issues that had caused Guevara and Melo to miss out on their scheduled title defense match at AAA’s last event was recently resolved but a new issue then arose.
This issue reportedly revolved around AEW recently changing their booking plans for the scheduled women’s match at tonight’s AEW Dynamite show due to an illness from one of the originally planned participants. Meltzer reported that AEW officials made the decision for Melo to be the replacement causing her to be double booked and pulled from AAA’s event.
Meltzer reported that while AAA still has Guevara and Melo advertised for their event, the company is expected to make an announcement at the show that they have stripped both of their titles and will be crowning a new AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champion that same night.
