As noted before, WWE recently held talks with WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin over the potential of Austin wrestling another match in the company and possibly at next year’s WrestleMania 39 event.
Austin recently commented on Instagram about a recent workout video he posted and the recent rumors of him potentially wrestling another match in WWE.
“People have been speculating, ‘Hey Steve, what are you doing? What are you training for? Are you training for an event?’ I just simply looked in the mirror and realized I look like shit so I called my diet coach up and my macros are currently, give or take, roughly around 2650 calories 300-320 grams of protein, 150 grams of carbs on a regular day, will spike at 420 on a load up. I still drink beer on Friday nights. Get 3 Broken Skull IPAs and that’s pretty much it. I’m probably, as far as body weight goes, sub-232, the leanest I’ve been in forever. Anyway, I’m out. I just got tired of looking In the mirror, I got tired of looking like shit, so I’m taking action to do something about it. I gotta go. Catch you down the road.”
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources confirmed that WWE officials and Austin have held a lot of talks in recent weeks over potential plans for Austin to wrestle one more time. WWE officials reportedly are currently considering several plans for this potential match with one idea involving Austin facing off against a younger talent. This idea revolves around the younger talent carrying the match and be elevated in the process, similar to Austin’s match with Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 this past April. Meltzer speculated that someone like Baron Corbin or Austin Theory would make sense as options for a heel opponent.
Meltzer speculated that if WWE were to decide to go in a different route and use an established older big star as Austin’s opponent instead, then John Cena, Brock Lesnar, and potentially CM Punk would make the most sense as options.
