As noted before, CM Punk, Ace Steel, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks were involved in a backstage fight incident following AEW’s All Out 2022 event this past September. Following the incident, AEW had suspended all of them for an indefinite period of time as part of the company’s investigation which recently was completed. During this time period, Steel was released from the company, Omega and the Young Bucks have been teased to be returning soon, and Punk’s future in the company is expected to be over.
Fightful Select reported that their sources confirmed recent reports of there not being any active litigation against Punk over his role in the backstage fight incident.
One WWE source spoken to reportedly stated that the company would “likely be interested” in the possibility of using the services of Punk in the future. Others spoken to representing multiple other wrestling companies stated that they are currently interested in at least having a conversation with Punk over potential future bookings. Those same people reportedly also stated that they are not sure how motivated Punk would be to continue his wrestling career after what had taken place during his time in AEW.
Several people spoken to within the wrestling autograph signing industry reportedly stated that they still expect Punk to be in big demand for signings and appearances if he decides to become available for them.
One source spoken to close to Punk stated that a return to wrestling is currently not ruled out since they claimed that Punk “got the wrestling bug again.” This same source reportedly stated that they are currently unsure if Punk will still feel the same towards his career once he’s fully healed up but there would be options available if he decides to want to get back into the ring in the future.
