As noted before, former WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon retired from the company this past July. WWE announced earlier this week that they have recently completed their investigation against McMahon over allegations of sexual misconduct and secret “hush money” payments towards several former female employees and at least one talent.
Fightful Select reported that one WWE source spoken to stated that the line in the company’s SEC filing about “Mr. McMahon can effectively exercise control over our affairs” was not meant to indicate that McMahon would be returning any time soon to the company. This same source stated that McMahon was “done, done” and would not be returning to his roles currently held by Paul “Triple H” Levesque and several others in WWE.
Another source spoken to stated that morale within the company has been at its highest in over a decade that they have been around since McMahon’s departure.
One longtime WWE employee spoken to stated that while they initially had reservations, hesitations, and fears over McMahon’s departure and him possibly coming back quickly, this is no longer the case for them. This same person also stated that everyone in the company currently realizes that it would be a major step backwards for McMahon to return to the company. This same person also stated that WWE’s recent filing was a big confidence booster to those who had some worry over McMahon’s departure being a big blow to the company.
