AEW: Scorpio Sky Injury Update, Thunder Rosa on Relinquishing Women’s Title, Full Gear 2022 PPV Buys Update

Scorpio Sky Injury Status Update

As noted before, Scorpio Sky has been out of action for AEW since this past June due to a knee-related injury.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Sky has been medically cleared for quite some time for an in-ring return. Those same sources reportedly stated that the reason why Sky has yet to return to AEW programming is due to AEW officials currently do not have any creative plans in place for him.

It was reported that Sky was at a Dynamite taping over the summer and had filmed content that did not get used nor aired in the end.


Thunder Rosa Comments on Relinquishing AEW Women’s World Championship

As noted before, Thunder Rosa has been out of action for AEW since this past September due to her suffering a spinal-related injury.

This past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in Chicago, Illinois featured the official announcement of Rosa relinquishing her AEW Women’s Championship due to the current status of her injury. It was also announced that Jamie Hayter’s current Interim Women’s title reign was now considered to be an official title reign by the company. It was also announced that previous Interim Women’s Champion Toni Storm’s reign has been retroactively upgraded to official title reign status as well.

Following the show, Rosa reflected on Twitter about relinquishing her AEW Women’s Championship due to injury and the future of her wrestling career.


Full Gear 2022 PPV Buys Update

As noted before, AEW CEO Tony Khan stated during this past weekend’s Full Gear 2022 post-show media scrum that the pay-per-view buys for the event is currently expected to be around 140,000 based on early numbers and estimates.

Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that the PPV buys for AEW’s Full Gear 2022 event is currently estimated to be a little under 140,000 based on updated numbers.

Meltzer reported that the numbers for buys from traditional cable and satellite television PPV providers in the United States are currently not known while streaming buys for the event were slightly lower than this past September’s All Out 2022 event.

In regards to All Out 2022, Meltzer reported that the event is currently estimated to have generated around 140,000 PPV buys based on updated numbers. Meltzer also reported that AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s co-promoted Forbidden Door event from this past June is also currently estimated to have generated around 140,000 PPV buys based on updated numbers.
