Jeff Jarrett Comments on His Recent Hiring in AEW & New Backstage Role
A recent episode of the My World with Jeff Jarrett podcast featured co-host Jeff Jarrett’s thoughts on his recent hiring in AEW as their new Director of Business Development and his love of the wrestling industry.
“In the different little footnotes of Double J’s career, I may be — and we’ve talked about this, I may be the last hire of VKM. That may, or may not be true. but from that point to now, there was a lot of soul-searching, a lot of thought processing, and I can tell you today, I don’t know if I’m more excited about the behind-the-scenes work, the executive work, or the in-ring stuff. Karen texted me on Wednesday, about 1:00-1:30 PM, and said, ‘What are you doing?’ I said, ‘I said, I feel like I’m a 19-year-old rookie pacing around WMC TV studios. I’m nervous. I’m nervous about tonight. I’m thinking things through and I want them to go right.’ So that’s kind of one of the messages I want to throw out there, folks. I’ve been doing it a long time, but I was as nervous as could be. When the lights were restored in the ring, it was a surreal moment. I had a little Fresh coat of paint oh, a little red and black guitar. It was really cool. I got a good crack at ol’ Darby. All the faces that I saw backstage, I mean, we can make that a whole podcast. I am super grateful. I’m excited. I’m ready to dig in, in all kinds of ways.
I love it. I love the business more today than ever. I can honestly sit here and say this. I love it more today than I ever have. There are new horizons and new frontiers. Man the rabid AEW fanbase is so vocal online and opinionated and everything that goes with it. I love that because you get a response, one where there’s no real gray area. So, you know, the analytics and measuring the YouTube and the interest in this and that, kind of looking at the landscape both domestically and internationally. A lot of fun. I’m pumped. I’m super pumped.”

Tony Khan on AEW’s Plans to Expand Their Live Events Schedule in 2023 & Beyond
Sports Illustrated held a recent interview with AEW CEO Tony Khan. One of the topics discussed included Khan’s thoughts on AEW’s plans to expand their live events schedule starting in 2023 and recent hiring of Jeff Jarrett as their Director of Business Development.
“It makes a lot of sense for AEW to expand our live calendar in 2023 and beyond. There are many places in the U.S. and all over the world where AEW is very popular, and this is a strategic opportunity to expand. We also have Ring of Honor. There are a lot of exciting possibilities for us in live events, and Jeff has such extensive experience as a third-generation businessman in pro wrestling. He’s got tremendous experience in a number of fields, including live event promotions and international distribution. His insight and knowledge are very valuable, and I’m excited to have Jeff join our great team.”
Jon Moxley Comments on Fear of Dying in the Ring Before He Entered Alcoholism Rehab Treatment in 2021
The Cincinnati Enquirer held a recent interview with Jon Moxley. One of the topics discussed included Moxley revealing that he was scared of dying in the ring prior to his decision to enter alcoholism rehab treatment in 2021.
“Over a year ago, I was afraid of dying of a seizure in the ring. I had that on my mind every day. It was all (messed) up, and going through an absolute personal hell for a long time that nobody else even knew about. When you’re scared for your actual life, to make the decision to go to rehab and (stuff) was basically – I had to basically assume I’m giving everything away. I was like, OK, I’m either going to live a long, happy life and raise my kid and be a person, or I can wrestle. But I can’t have both.
But when I got out, it turned out that nobody was mad at me at all. Everybody was very happy. I was welcomed back by AEW and by the fans, and it was just like, go and get back to it. And when you’ve already lost everything, all you fear for is your life, literally and figuratively. If I had taken another step in the wrong direction, I could have been on the verge of losing my family if I had gone that way. If I had kept going in another direction, I could have died on live television. I could have literally lost everything. So to make that choice, I had to completely give away everything. I’ll never wrestle in this arena again, I’ll never get to wrestle in front of these fans again, I’ll never get to be on TV again, I’ll never win a championship again, I’ll never make any money again, I’ll go back and get my old job at the arena – I don’t know. I had to give it all away.
Now there’s kind of nothing to lose. What, am I gonna lose a match? Will I screw up a move? Like, what could possibly go wrong? Almost nothing. Big f’n deal. Am I alive? OK, I think it was a fine day, then.”
