WWE reportedly recently cancelled their plans to hold their next Day 1 event in 2023, according to Wrestlenomics and the Wrestling Observer.
Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston reported that his sources stated that WWE officials recently dropped the event from their current events schedule and are not expected to add it back in. Thurston reported that WWE’s events schedule currently does not list any events to take place in between this November’s Survivor Series event and next year’s Royal Rumble event.
Thurston reported that the reason is believed to be due to scheduling-related issues with the host venue The State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The venue reportedly currently has two major College football games scheduled to take place on December 31st and January 1, 2023.
The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that his sources stated that WWE officials reportedly recently held talks over the idea of moving next year’s Day 1 event to a different date or location but nothing came from those talks as of yet. Meltzer reported that tickets for this upcoming event were originally scheduled to go on sale starting on September 23rd but WWE officials had delayed the start date and had yet to schedule a new date for it.
