WWE Reportedly Did Not Have WWE Title Plans for Cody Rhodes This Summer
As noted before, Cody Rhodes has been out of action for WWE since this past June due to a torn pectoral injury. Prior to his injury, Rhodes stated in his first promo following his return to the company this past April that his biggest goal was to win the WWE Championship to honor his late father Dusty Rhodes, who never won the belt during his career.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that prior to Rhodes’ injury, WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon did not have any plans in place for Rhodes to become either the WWE or Universal Champion during this past summer.
McMahon reportedly was “all on board” with Roman Reigns’ double title and there were not any ideas floated from McMahon that would have indicated that he was ready to move on from Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal title reign at some point this past summer.
Raquel Rodriguez Comments on Wanting IC-Level Title Belt for Women’s Division
A recent episode of NBC Sports’ Ten Count podcast had Raquel Rodriguez as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Rodriguez’s thoughts on wanting a new championship belt at the level of an Intercontinental or North American Championship be added to WWE’s Women’s division in the near future.
“100 percent. I think that would be something so great for the women’s division especially because we have so much diversity in the women’s division. We have women from all over the world, from all over the country, from different backgrounds and different ethnicities. I think having an Intercontinental Championship, having a North American championship for the women would be something. Just a huge leap forward for the Women’s Division in wrestling in general.
And I personally do feel like that is something that is possible and is something that’s that could possibly be happening in the near future so I’m looking forward to that and possibly you know making new history.”
Rodriguez also stated that she current believes that WWE’s Women’s division will main event a Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia in the future.
“Yes, yes I do. I was very excited about the last trip they took to Saudi Arabia because they took so many women with them and we had so much of our women’s roster representing over there. It was so great. So yeah, I think women are gonna main event one of these Crown Jewel events for sure.”
