Cody Rhodes Injury Status Update
As noted before, Cody Rhodes has been out of action for WWE since this past June due to a torn pectoral injury.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that Rhodes’ rehab progress is currently a little ahead of schedule. Rhodes reportedly has recently been working with Diamond Dallas Page on his rehab
Meltzer reported that while WWE officials currently do not have a firm date set for his return, he speculated that it might be possible that Rhodes could return as early as next year’s Day 1 event, which takes place on January 1, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia. WWE officials reportedly had originally planned for Rhodes to make his potential return at next year’s Royal Rumble event at the earliest.
Naomi Contract Status Update
As noted before, Sasha Banks and Naomi have been absent from WWE since this past May due to their current suspensions over a walk out incident during a WWE RAW show in Norfolk, Virginia. Naomi’s contract with the company was set to expire this summer but is currently believed to have been frozen.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there have been no new updates recently from his sources regarding the status of Naomi’s contract with WWE beyond some talks recently taking place between the two sides for a potential new deal.
Meltzer reported that Naomi is still bound to the terms of her old deal due to it being frozen which prevents her from becoming a free agent and negotiating with other companies to potentially work for them.
