More on WWE NXT Viewership for September 6th
The September 6th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a small increase in overall viewership and key demographic ratings but also suffered a small decline in key demographic rankings.
NXT drew 684,000 viewers and a 0.16 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 12th place.
Detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for NXT’s mixed results this week was due to the large gain from their female key demographic viewership group, which was up 38.5% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the large decline from their male key demographic viewership group, which was down 12.8% compared to last week’s show.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the 2022 U.S. Open Quarterfinals Round drew 1,786,000 viewers on ESPN, the WNBA 2022 Playoffs Game 4 of Chicago Sky vs. Connecticut Sun drew 412,000 on ESPN2, 7 Little Johnstons drew 797,000 viewers on TLC, Below Deck Down Under drew 639,000 viewers on Bravo, and Deadliest Catch drew 728,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.
In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 202,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 130,000 male viewers and 72,000 female viewers for a split of 64.4% in favor of males.
NXT’s peak for overall viewership reportedly was at 761,000 viewers for the quarter featuring the Meiko Satomura vs. Roxanne Perez match. NXT’s peak for key demographic viewership reportedly was at 257,000 viewers for the same quarter featuring the Satomura vs. Perez match. Meltzer reported that NXT’s overrun drew 579,000 overall viewers and 151,000 key demographic viewers, which was down in overall viewers but up in key demographic viewers compared to NXT’s main event quarter of 597,000 viewers and 142,000 viewers respectively.
In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was up 13.8% in overall viewership and up 9.2% in key demographic viewership.
More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for September 7th
The September 7th episode of AEW Dynamite saw gain a small increase in overall viewership and key demographic ratings.
AEW drew 1,035,000 viewers and a 0.38 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 2nd place.
Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases this week was due to the large gain from their older male demographic viewership, which was up 19.4% compared to last week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the strong viewership for the show’s first 30 minutes. This reportedly offset the large declines from their female key demographic viewership groups, which were down 9.5% in Females 18-34 and down 3.2% in Females 35-49. Meltzer reported that this was the fifteenth week in a row where Dynamite was either the top or second ranked show for a Wednesday night and is currently the longest streak in Dynamite history. Meltzer also reported that AEW’s streak of three weeks in a row of being over 1 million viewers for a show was the longest for Dynamite since this past January.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the 2022 U.S. Open Quarterfinals Round drew 1,305,000 viewers on ESPN, the MLB game of Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Diego Padres drew 240,000 viewers on FS1, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,222,000 viewers on Bravo, and Real Housewives of Dubai drew 655,000 viewers on Bravo.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 469,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was up 0.8%, Females 18-34 was down 9.5%, Males 35-49 was up 19.4%, and Females 35-49 was down 3.2%. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was at 69.5% in favor of males.
In terms of the one million viewership milestone, three out of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 1,221,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 861,000 viewers for their eighth quarter.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 21.5% in overall viewership and down 31.1% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that the reason for the large declines was due to last year’s show featured both the second highest ever viewed show in Dynamite history and the official Dynamite debuts of Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, Minoru Suzuki, and Ruby Soho.

- 3Q – 1,080,000 overall viewers and 518,000 key demo viewers (Latter half of the Death Triangle vs. Best Friends Trios match and the Dark Order, Andrade El Idolo, & Jose The Assistant backstage segment)
- 4Q – 989,000 overall viewers and 463,000 key demo viewers (Toni Storm vs. Penelope Ford match, the Action Bronson video promo, the Matt Menard & Angelo Parker backstage promo, and The Acclaimed, Billy Gunn, & Swerve Strickland promo segment)
- 5Q – 998,000 overall viewers and 458,000 key demo viewers (TNT Championship match of Tony Nese vs. Wardlow (c) and post-match promo by Wardlow, the Darby Allin promo segment, and the start of the Hangman Adam Page vs. Bryan Danielson match)
- 6Q – 984,000 overall viewers and 444,000 key demo viewers (Bulk of the Page vs. Danielson match)

The September 2nd episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership, key demographic ratings, and key demographic rankings. That week’s show was notable for airing as a special live show.
AEW Rampage drew 485,000 viewers and a 0.16 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 11th place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the large gains from their older key demographic viewership group, which was up 71.4% compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the stiff sports competition that night and the large decline from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 12.5% compared to the prior week’s show. In regards to sports competition, the Serena Williams vs. Ajla Tomljanović tennis match peaked at 6,900,000 viewers during the second quarter of Rampage, which broke the record for the highest ever viewed and highest ever peak viewerships for a tennis match in ESPN history.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the 2022 U.S. Open Third Round drew 4,561,000 viewers on ESPN, the MLB simulcast games of New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay and Texas vs. Boston drew 189,000 viewers on MLB Network, On Patrol Live drew 858,000 viewers on REELZ Channel, and 90 Day Fiance First Look drew 671,000 viewers on TLC.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 209,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 143,000 male viewers and 66,000 female viewers. Meltzer also reported that the male/female viewership split was 68.4% in favor of males. Meltzer also reported that week’s Rampage show did not rank in the Top 10 youngest skewing sports show for the week while that week’s Dynamite was the seventh youngest, behind five English Premier League games and one Formula-1 race event.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 30.3% in overall viewership and down 47.6% in key demographic viewership.
