Anthony Bowens Comments on Crowd Reaction to The Acclaimed at AEW’s All Out 2022 Event
TCS News’ The Sports Courier held a recent interview with Anthony Bowens. One of the topics discussed included Bowens thoughts on the overwhelming supportive crowd reaction to The Acclaimed during their match against Swerve In Our Glory for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at AEW’s All Out 2022 event earlier this month.
“We [Bowens & Caster] knew that we had a lot of support going into the pay-per-view [All Out] and we knew this would probably be the sleeper match of the pay-per-view and it ended up exceeding I guess everyone’s expectations and it’s a good lesson for a lot of the fans who like to whine and complain about things because all I heard throughout the entire week was, ‘Oh, there’s no build to this. It’s gonna suck.’ We’re professionals, allow us to do our job and we did it really well and we expected — again, we expected a really good reaction but that moment when they started chanting, ‘Oh scissor me daddy,’ I think if you watch the match, even Swerve [Strickland] kind of got caught off guard too. We both were like, ‘Oh sh*t’ and I was like, oh, I got to beat this guy up again. So there’s a moment in that match where it’s like wow, this is insane. I have a lot of goals and aspirations and Max too. We both wanna be successful in the professional wrestling business and we push each other to get to this point but, if you said it would happen within two years of being here, two years of being a tag team in general, it’s crazy.”
Bowens also gave his thoughts about The Acclaimed’s upcoming match for the AEW World Tag Team titles at AEW’s Grand Slam 2022 special next week at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York.
“I take that responsibility of being an out athlete very seriously because I’d like to show that you can be a successful, openly gay professional athlete without it being the center of attention, without it being the center of focus but, at times, it is important to bring it up, like for next week in particular [Dynamite Grand Slam]. Max [Caster] and I are gonna fight for our lives in this match and we also wanna bring home gold and if we do, I end up being AEW’s first gay champion which is something that I would be super proud of so I’m going to have some extra inspiration I guess underneath me for that match.”
Bowens also gave his thoughts about the origin of his “scissor me daddy ass” catchphrase to Billy Gunn.
“We leaned into it [scissoring gesture]. It just started becoming more and more of a thing and then we added Billy [Gunn] to the equation and at one particular live Rampage, I was sitting in Gorilla. I was in my wheelchair at the time when I was injured and we were minutes from going out and it just popped into my head because Austin Gunn kept calling his father ‘daddy’. I was like, hmm, it’d be kind of funny if I said ‘scissor me daddy ass’ live on television. I’m just gonna say it. I went out and I said it and came back, internet blew up and now it’s turned into the number one selling t-shirt.”

Hangman Adam Page Comments on Dark Order Helping His Growth as a Person & Wrestling Career
Hangman Adam Page recently reflected on Instagram about how much the Dark Order has meant to him and helped his growth as both a person and wrestling career.
“After you get famous, you stop growing. You don’t have to.”
After being an even small part of a movement with the Elite and our subsequent falling out I was a afraid of stagnation. I was happy, fulfilled, and getting a good paycheck; but without anyone to push me further.
During Brodie’s illness I was scared to move forward with these guys, but we all still felt it was the right thing to do.
I could never say enough about all of the Dark Order.
John’s jokes effortlessly turn a bad day into a hilarious one. Alex is my dad friend; our sons were born five days apart and it’s been so grounding to have someone on the same ride as me. Uno self-deprecates in a way I can relate to, only wishing he saw in himself what I see in him. Ten for working tirelessly and covering for my sorry ass at the latest possible notice. Anna for never hesitating to get in on a good dick joke and be one of the boys. Stu for never being complacent with his spot and always wanting for more. Five for overcoming having such a small penis and gaining the confidence to bet on himself in a way I have never had to. Colt for being a fountain of wisdom and saying to me the most self-affirming words I’ve ever heard.
I owe a lot of my career to Matt, Nick, and Kenny. I owe as much to these guys too. Thank you for helping me continue to grow.
AEW News & Notes
MJF announced on Instagram that he recently got engaged to his fiancee Naomi Rosenblum. Rosenblum made an appearance in AEW during the February 9th episode of AEW Dynamite that featured MJF being carried to the ring seated on top of a golden throne and making out with an unknown woman, who was later revealed to be Rosenblum.
The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that AEW recently removed CM Punk, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks from all of their advertisements for upcoming events, including this year’s Full Gear event on November 19th. Punk, Omega, and the Young Bucks have been out of action for the company since September 4th due to their current suspensions following a backstage fight incident at All Out 2022.
Kota Ibushi recently revealed on Twitter that his old friend Kenny Omega visited him earlier this week as part of his current trip to Japan. Omega revealed on Instagram that he also visited video game company SEGA’s office as part of his trip in the country.
Based on recent updated data, Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston reported that last year’s All Out event is currently estimated to have generated around 215,000 pay-per-view buys. This is up compared to the previous estimated amount of 205,000 PPV buys for the event.

As noted before, Pro Wrestling Illustrated released their PWI Top 500 2022 list this past Wednesday. Among the notable omissions from PWI’s Top 10 was Jon Moxley, who was ranked at 12th place for this year’s list. PWI recently responded on Twitter to the online criticisms over Moxley not making the Top 10 over several others who did stating:
“It’s a good argument! We stand by where Mox is ranked (#12), because, as @davidlagreca1 said, he missed a few months of the eval. period (granted, for the absolute best reason) and his main-event success in AEW came at the very end of the evaluation period. It’s not hard science we’re doing here, though, and we wouldn’t dare look at anybody sideways for suggesting Mox should be higher. Appreciate the impassioned feedback from @BustedOpenRadio Nation!”
