More on WWE NXT Viewership for July 12th

The July 12th episode of WWE NXT saw suffer a slight decline in overall viewership but gained small increases in key demographic ratings and key demographic rankings.

NXT drew 582,000 viewers and a 0.14 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 21st place.

Detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for NXT’s mixed results this week was due to the very large gains from their Teenagers and younger key demographic viewership groups, which were up 166.7% and up 140% respectively compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the decline from their older key demographic viewership group, which was down 11% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB game of Los Angeles Dodgers vs. St. Louis Cardinals drew 399,000 viewers on TBS, the NBA Summer League game of Boston Celtics vs. Golden State Warriors drew 344,000 viewers on ESPN, Little People, Big World drew 1,547,000 viewers on TLC, and Deadliest Catch drew 868,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 182,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 123,000 male viewers and 59,000 female viewers.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 19.4% in overall viewership and down 26% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that NXT’s 18-34 key demographic viewership was up 42.4% compared to last year’s show.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for July 13th

The July 13th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a small decline in overall viewership and key demographic ratings. This week’s show was notable for being the Fyter Fest 2022 Week 1 themed special.

AEW drew 942,000 viewers and a 0.32 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 1st place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s decline that week was due the large decline from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 29.4% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that specifically, AEW suffered a very large drop from their Males 12-34 viewership group which led for the second week in a row where AEW’s Females 12-34 group had more viewers than their Males 12-34 group.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLS game of Minnesota United FC vs. Sporting Kansas City drew 215,000 viewers on ESPN, the MLB simulcast games of Los Angeles Dodgers vs. St. Louis and Philadelphia vs. Toronto drew 303,000 viewers on MLB Network, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,212,000 viewers on Bravo, and Real Housewives of Dubai drew 584,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 415,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was down 20.7%, Females 18-34 was down 36.4%, Males 35-49 was down 3.5%, and Females 35-49 was up 2.4% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership split for this week was 62% in favor of males.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, two out of AEW’s eight quarters averaged one million or more viewers. AEW’s quarter peak was at 1,093,000 viewers for their first quarter and their quarter low point was at 866,000 viewers for their seventh quarter. Meltzer reported that while AEW’s main event eighth quarter averaged 875,000 overall viewers and 404,000 key demographic viewers, the final few minutes of the AEW World Tag Team Championship Triple or Nothing match drew around 998,000 overall viewers and 464,000 key demographic viewers.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 8.1% in overall viewership and down 19.9% in key demographic viewership.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 1,093,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Jake Hager vs. Claudio Castagnoli match and the HOOK backstage interview segment which gained 27,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Thunder Rosa vs. Miyu Yamashita match recap video, Rosa, Toni Storm, Britt Baker, & Jamie Hayter backstage interview segment, and the Serena Deeb vs. Anna Jay match which lost 100,000 viewers.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for July 8th

The July 8th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a large decline in overall viewership, a small decline in key demographic rankings, and a slight decline in key demographic ratings.

AEW Rampage drew 428,000 viewers and a 0.15 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 10th place.

Detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to the large decline from their older key demographic viewership group, which was down 8.3% compared to the prior week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the large decline from their females key demographic viewership group, which was down 23.4% compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the large gains from their Teenagers viewership group, which was up 60% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB simulcast games of New York Yankees vs. Boston and Washington vs. Atlanta drew 346,000 viewers on MLB Network, the NBA Summer League game of Phoenix Suns vs. Los Angeles Lakers drew 372,000 viewers on ESPN 2, the MLS game of Los Angeles FC vs. Los Angeles Galaxy drew 333,000 viewers on ESPN, and 90 Day Fiance First Look drew 840,000 viewers on TLC.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 189,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 130,000 male viewers and 59,000 female viewers. Meltzer also reported that week’s Rampage show did not chart in the Top 10 youngest skewing sports show for the week while that week’s Dynamite show was the fifth youngest skewing sports show, behind four NBA Summer League games.
