Tony Khan Comments on WWE Creative Changes Narratives & AEW Wrestlers Going Back to WWE

A recent episode of the Busted Open Radio podcast had AEW CEO Tony Khan as the guest. One of the topics discussed included his thoughts on WWE’s recent changes to their creative department and the current narratives of it “magically” leading to an AEW talent exodus and quickly changing the wrestling scene landscape.

“There are a lot of changes in pro wrestling. I think it’s going to be really positive for the fans overall. I am a little amused that changes in the competition, people think it’s going to magically change the landscape. Some of these accounts, Twitter can be a fun place to follow, but some of the narratives I’ve seen every day for the last week are really amusing to me. I’ve got people signed here for five years and people think that just because the CEO, Chairman, head of creative, those people changed in the competition, people I have five-year contracts with are going to magically switch teams? Good luck with that. Adam Cole is signed until 2027 now. I wouldn’t expect to see him going anywhere anytime soon. Malakai Black has almost five years left on his deal. I wouldn’t expect him going anywhere anytime soon. Just because these guys had some success under a previous administration somewhere else, they’re not magically going to be going anywhere. Those are two people I like, just as examples of people who have worked under the previous administration. I’m very amused by that. That’s a narrative I see so-called wrestling writers pushing every day. It’s pretty amusing.”

CM Punk Comments on WWE Culture “Doesn’t Change at All” with Vince McMahon Retirement

Absolute Geek Podcast held a recent interview with CM Punk at the recent San Diego Comic Con convention. One of the topics discussed included CM Punk’s thoughts on not believing that WWE Culture will actually change that much following Vince McMahon’s retirement.

“You think because he tweeted that ‘I’m retired’ that he’s not going to be hands-on?

I don’t think the structure there, the….what’s the word I’m looking for…I don’t think the culture there changes at all. It is what it is. I’ll put it to you like this. Oh boy, people are going to be real fucking mad about this, but fuck it. Mercedes [Sasha Banks] and Trinity [Naomi] leave, they announce on SmackDown that, ‘gosh darn, we are so disappointed in them, they really let our fans down.’ Brock splits. Comes back, obviously, I think he worked the show. Where is Michael Cole saying, ‘Brock Lesnar really let these fans down.’ I walked out. They went on TV and called me a quitter. What’s changed? What’s the difference? You’re going to attack these two poor women who had enough and walked. They have bigger balls than everybody there. What’s changed? There’s nothing much that has changed. There’s people that talk about it and people who do it. The people who lick the boots and have the audacity to say that about those two women. Fucking cowards and bootlickers. This shit is ridiculous. Why didn’t they do it to Brock? They did it for me. It’s none of my business.”

Julia Hart Comments on Joining House of Black

Captain’s Corner held a recent virtual fan signing event with Julia Hart as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Hart’s thoughts on joining the House of Black stable in AEW.

“It was a little difficult in the in-between stage [transitioning from cheerleader character to House of Black presentation] just because you know… it was just like tug of war so it was kind of difficult but now that I’m full-force, it’s so much easier and I’m gonna be honest, I’ve been sick of cheerleading since I graduated high school so, I’m glad to be done with it. So, I’ve been waiting for something like this and I think this is the best way I could have ever done it.”

Hart also gave her thoughts about how everyone in the group helps contributes creative ideas for the group as a whole.

“Yeah [it’s good to have the creative outlet that comes with being part of House of Black], and they’re all just so creative too. It’s just really cool to get your heads together and hear what they say or what they think and how to do things.”

Hart also gave her thoughts on how everyone in the House of Black has been very helpful towards her career.

“I would say Malakai [Black], he’s like my mentor, my coach and always gives me critiques and gives me homework to do. Brody [King] is like my dad. He’s the guy that just takes care of me, makes sure everything’s okay, everything’s all right. I’d say Buddy [Matthews is] like a brother. Just someone that wants to joke around and have fun and a good time.

Brody’s like my dad. I got locked out of my car the other week, last week and he helped me get my keys. He helped me with my mask and his wife is great too and she’s like my mom so and his kids are adorable so yeah, they’re all great. The House of Black is really like a big family. Everyone’s just great and I couldn’t ask for anyone better to help me with stuff and they’re always there with advice.”
