More on WWE NXT Viewership for May 31st

The May 31st episode of WWE NXT saw NXT suffer a small decline in overall viewership and key demographic rankings and a slight decline in key demographic ratings.

NXT drew 534,000 viewers and a 0.12 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 43rd place.

Detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for NXT’s declines this week was due to the large decline suffered from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 14.3% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly was enough to offset the very large gains from their Teenagers viewership group, which was up 133.3% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NHL 2022 Playoffs Game 1 of Edmonton Oilers vs. Colorado Avalanche drew 1,181,000 viewers on TNT, Little People, Big World drew 1,410,000 viewers on TLC, Deadliest Catch Bloodline drew 809,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, and Deadliest Catch drew 913,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston reported that NXT drew 157,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 104,000 male key demographic viewers and 53,000 female key demographic viewers.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 20.1% in overall viewership and down 38.4% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for June 1st

The June 1st episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership, key demographic ratings, and key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 969,000 viewers and a 0.40 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 2nd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases this week was due to the large gains from their younger male key demographic viewership and overall older key demographic viewership groups, which were up 23.3% and 23.8% respectively compared to last week’s show. This reportedly was enough to offset the large declines from their younger female key demographic viewership and Over 50 viewership groups, which were down 19% and 5.6% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NHL 2022 Playoffs Game 1 of Tampa Bay Lightning vs. New York Rangers drew 2,363,000 viewers on ESPN, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,180,000 viewers on Bravo, and Real Housewives of Dubai drew 769,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 517,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was up 23.3%, Females 18-34 was down 19%, Males 35-49 was up 27%, and Females 35-49 was up 6.5% compared to last week’s show.

In an interesting note, Meltzer reported that AEW managed to top this past Monday’s WWE Raw show and last week’s WWE Friday Night SmackDown show in Males 18-49. AEW reportedly had 317,000 viewers compared to 338,000 viewers for RAW and 303,000 viewers for SmackDown.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, two out of AEW’s eight quarters averaged one million or more viewers. AEW’s quarter peak was at 1,069,000 viewers for their second quarter and their quarter low point was at 900,000 viewers for their third quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 109.7% in overall viewership and up 110.5% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that the main reason for the huge increases was due to last year’s show took place on a Saturday due to the NBA 2021 Playoffs.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 1,044,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Jericho Appreciation, Eddie Kingston, & William Regal promo segment and brawl with Ortiz which gained 55,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the ending of the MJF “pipebomb” promo segment and the Miro vs. Johnny Elite match which lost 196,000 viewers.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for May 27th

The May 27th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a large decline in overall viewership and key demographic rankings and a slight decline in key demographic ratings. That week’s show was notable for being the fourth week in a row Rampage aired at an earlier start time due to TNT’s current NHL Playoffs commitments.

AEW Rampage drew 341,000 viewers and a 0.14 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 26th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to the large decline suffered from their Males 12-34 viewership group and younger key demographic viewership groups, which were down 37% and 29% respectively compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the large gains from their female key demographic viewership group, which was up 13% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NCAA Softball game of Arkansas vs. Texas drew 677,000 viewers on ESPN2.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 177,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was down 27.6%, Females 18-34 was down 22.7%, Males 35-49 was down 4.5%, and Females 35-49 was up 64% compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that week’s Rampage show was the youngest English-language skewing sports show for the week. That week’s Dynamite show reportedly was the fourth youngest, behind Rampage and two NHL Playoff games.

AEW Rampage started off with around 347,000 viewers and had around 329,000 viewers for their second quarter, around 326,000 viewers for their third quarter, and around 364,000 viewers for their main event quarter featuring the Kris Statlander vs. Ruby Soho match.
