The Young Bucks vs. The Lucha Brothers
Adam Cole is on commentary for this one.
The hometown Young Bucks are shown soaking up some crowd noise. The Lucha Bros do the same and then the bell sounds to get this one off-and-running in front of a ROCKING crowd in Ontario.
Matt Jackson and Penta El Zero Miedo kick things off for their respective teams. They each play to the crowd a bit and after Penta throws his glove in Matt’s face, these two turn the intensity up a few notches.
Penta nearly secures a submission on the mat, however Matt escapes and eventually gets to his feet where he and Penta get each in other’s grills for a stare down.
Rey Fenix and Nick Jackson tag in and these two go at it now. Jackson does a good job pulling Fenix off the top for a hip-toss. Fenix goes for a power bomb to the floor on Nick, but Nick reverses it.
They each go for a roundhouse kick but both miss. They hit the ring at the same time and try again, for the same result.
The two get an insane pop from the crowd, who then break into an “AEW!” AEW!” chant. Nick goes for a handshake in a sign of respect. Fenix hesitates but obliges, just as he is attacked from behind by Matt. The Young Bucks start to take over from there.
Nick runs and a gets a full head of steam before flipping off the back of Matt for a big splash on Fenix on the floor. Penta follows up with a running dive that takes out everyone on the floor.
We see even more dives and high spots to the floor, and the crowd is on fire the entire time. A loud “This is awesome!” chant breaks out as the action returns in the ring. Fenix comes off the top but lands on the knees of Jackson. We then head to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.
Jackson avoids a high spot from Fenix and hits the locomotive suplex spot back-to-back-to-back after rolling through four times. Penta ends up running in but is caught up in the fourth one, where Matt takes both Lucha Bros up and over.
Senton Atomic-o from both Young Bucks for a close near fall on Fenix. The Lucha Bros with a foot stomp DDT combo on the floor. They hit another one inside the ring for a close near fall.
Fenix dives into Jackson on the floor and the two crash into the ring barricade. Fenix shows respect to the late Eddie Guerrero with the shoulder shimmy on the top-rope before connecting with his Frog Splash finisher for a close near fall on Matt.
We see some more back-and-forth crazy high spots into near falls, then the Young Bucks pull off Penta’s mask, then hit a BTE Trigger on Fenix for the win. Chris Jericho touts it as one of the best matches in AEW Rampage history.
Winners: The Young Bucks
Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Two unannounced wrestlers
The two hit the ring and immediately start beating down their scheduled tag-team opposition to get our second match of the evening off-and-running.
Literally moments later, we see this one wrap up, with the Team Taz duo scoring the easy victory via a chokeslam by Hobbs.
Winners: Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs
Kiera Hogan vs. Athena
We head to our next match of the evening, as Kiera Hogan emerges and heads to the ring while an “earlier today” split-screen promo from Stokely Hathaway airs.
Out next is Athena. After a compliment on the wings, we head to the ring and the bell goes ding-ding to get this one off-and-running.
Some back-and-forth action kicks things off and then we see Athena start to take over. “The Fallen Goddess” hits a big spot diving through the ropes onto Hogan on the floor to pop the crowd.
She goes to leap-frog back over the top back onto Kiera in the ring, but is yanked down in mid-air by Red Velvet at ringside. We head to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.
We return from the break as “The Fallen Goddess” is in the midst of her fired up offensive comeback. She hits a diving cutter finisher for the pin fall victory.
Winner: Athena
After the match, we see Jade Cargill and the rest of The Baddies watching on as Athena gloats while laying across the top of the ring ropes in the corner.

In-Ring: CM Punk
CM Punk’s music hits and out comes “The Best in the World” to a rock star pop from the fans in Ontario, CA.
He settles in the ring and looks emotional. The commentators hype him making his big announcement now.
Punk says he spoke about when he came to AEW he said he would be doing this until the wheels fall off. He says he’s got good news and bad news. He asks which we want first.
He says the last thing he ever wanted to feel was letting anyone down. He says he didn’t want to disappoint anyone and he hopes he hasn’t thus far.
He is fighting back tears now as he talks about loving every second he has been in this ring in AEW.
He says here’s the bad news. He says he’s injured and needs surgery. He says a couple things are broken and the biggest is his heart. He says the good news is he can still do everything he wanted to do.
He says he told us he could go until the wheels fall off. He says one of them is broken, but they haven’t fallen off. He says he’s returned from worse. He calls this a bump in the road. He said he wants to wrestle for the fans. He wants to wrestle right now.
He says with that being said he wants to talk about this title. He says he told Tony Khan he didn’t want to hold this place up. He says there’s a laundry list of guys who can fill his shoes as the champion.
He lists some names such as Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley. He says he told Tony he would relinquish this title. He says Tony told him he believes in him and believes that his bum wheel is only a bump in the road.
He vows that the get-back will be bigger and better than the set-back. He says he’s coming back and when he does he’s gonna prove why he is “The Best in the World.” He raises the title high in the air and his music plays again.
TNT Championship
Scorpio Sky (c) vs. Dante Martin
We return to a split-screen interview hosted by Mark Henry. We see Dante Martin on one side of the screen with Matt Sydal in his corner. He says he knows he’s gonna win now that he’s gonna have Sydal watching his back. On the other side of the screen we hear Dan Lambert give Martin some props but then make it clear that he’s not on Scorpio Sky’s level. Sky follows up and then the interview wraps up with “The World’s Strongest Man” does his “it’s been enough talking” catchphrase. It is, in fact, time for our main event of the evening. The TNT Championship is up for grabs next.
We head back inside the arena and the familiar sounds of Dante Martin’s theme plays as the promising high-flying prospect makes his way out to the ring for our final bout of the evening.
In his corner, as promised, is fellow high-flyer Matt Sydal. They settle inside the ring and Martin’s music fades down.
Now the theme for the reigning, defending TNT Champion plays and out comes Scorpio Sky toting his newly designed TNT Championship title belt.
The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with our final contest of the evening here on this week’s AEW Rampage.
We see Ethan Page and Dan Lambert watching on now as Sky takes it to Martin with his superior striking game early on.
Some high spots from Martin quickly shifts the momentum to his favor, and pops the crowd in the process.
On that note, we head to a mid-match commercial break while our TNT Championship main event between Sky and Martin continues.
We see Sky is back in control of the action as we settle back in from our final commercial break of the evening.
A big drop kick from Martin leaves Sky clutching at his thigh. He takes Sky out to the floor from there and then follows out with a big high spot that connects.
Martin rolls Sky back into the ring and then heads to the top-rope and leaps onto Sky with another big move that connects. He goes for the pin, but Sky hangs on.
We see The Men of the Year guys Ethan Page and Dan Lambert try to get involved, leading to Matt Sydal running over and helping take them out. This leads to Martin going for a close near fall on Sky in the ring.
The action continues and we see Martin still controlling things and nearly finishnig Sky on a few ocassions. In the end, however, Sky manages to hit his TKO finisher for the win. With the victory, Sky retains his TNT Championship. Good main event.
The commentators talk about how Dante Martin at age 21 is a future champion but right now is the era of Scorpio Sky as TNT Champion.
Winner and STILL TNT Champion: Scorpio Sky
On commentary, they announced that a new Interim AEW World Champion will be crowned at Forbidden Door. CM Punk has not relinquished the title. A battle royal will open up Wednesday’s Dynamite and the winner will face Jon Moxley in the main event of Dynamite. The winner of that match will then compete against a yet to be named opponent for the Interim World Championship at Forbidden Door.
