More on WWE NXT Viewership for April 26th

The April 26th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a slight increase in overall viewership and a large increase in key demographic rankings.

NXT drew 577,000 viewers and a 0.12 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 32nd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for NXT’s increases this week was due to the large gains from their older male key demographic viewership, which was up 53.6% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the large declines in their Teenagers and younger female key demographic viewership groups, which were down 16.7% and 50% respectively compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA 2022 Playoffs Game 5 of Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Memphis Grizzles drew 2,898,000 viewers on TNT, the NHL game of St. Louis Blues vs. Colorado Avalanche drew 335,000 viewers on ESPN, the NHL game of Edmonton Oilers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins drew 337,000 viewers on ESPN, the MLB game of New York Mets vs. St. Louis Cardinals drew 206,000 viewers on TBS, Curse of Oak Island drew 2,474,000 viewers on History Channel, and Real Housewives of New Jersey drew 1,165,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 177,000 viewers. NXT’s Males 18-34 was down 5.3%, Females 18-34 was down 50%, Males 35-49 was up 53.6%, and Females 35-49 was up 18.2% compared to last week’s show.

While no numbers were stated, Meltzer reported that NXT’s peak for overall viewership occurred during the Tony D’Angelo vs. Von Wagner match. NXT’s peak for key demographic viewership reportedly occurred during the Katana Chance & Kayden Cater vs. Valentina Feroz & Yulisa Leon match. Meltzer also reported that this week’s overrun performed poorly for NXT and generated a viewership decline compared to NXT’s eight quarter. NXT’s overrun reportedly had 495,000 viewers for overall viewership and 158,000 viewers for key demographic viewership.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 22.4% in overall viewership and down 37.5% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for April 27th

The April 27th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a slight decline in overall viewership and a small decline in key demographic ratings.

AEW drew 921,000 viewers and a 0.33 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 4th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines this week was due to stiff sports competition from the NBA Playoffs and the large decline suffered from their younger male key demographic viewership group, which was down 50.7% compared to last week’s show. Another reason was due to the large decline from their Teenagers viewership group, which was down 36.4% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA 2022 Playoffs Game 5 of Denver Nuggets vs. Golden State Warriors drew 4,017,000 viewers on TNT, the NBA 2022 Playoffs Game 5 of Chicago Bulls vs. Milwaukee Bucks drew 2,717,000 viewers on TNT, the MLB split-cast games of Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles vs. New York Yankees drew 243,000 viewers on MLB TV, and Real Housewives of Orange County drew 948,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 424,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was down 50.7%, Females 18-34 was down 3.2%, Males 35-49 was up 12.4%, and Females 35-49 was down 8.5% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, one of AEW’s eight quarters averaged one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak was at 1,028,000 viewers for their second quarter and their low point was 764,000 viewers for their seventh quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 3.6% in overall viewership but down 0.9% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 key demographic viewership was up 20.2% compared to last year’s show.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 975,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the ending of the Dax Harwood vs. Cash Wheeler match, CM Punk promo segment, and the start of the 6-Man Trios match of Blackpool Combat Club vs. The Factory which gained 53,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the 10-Man Tag Team match of the Undisputed Elite vs. The Varsity Blonds, Lee Johnson, Brock Anderson, & Dante Martin which lost 131,000 viewers.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for April 22nd

The April 22nd episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership but also suffered a small decrease in key demographic ratings and key demographic rankings. That week’s show was notable for Rampage returning back to its normal timeslot after being preempted to an earlier start time the prior week due to TNT’s current NBA Playoffs commitments.

AEW Rampage drew 518,000 viewers and a 0.19 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 14th place.

This reportedly offset the large gains from their over 50 viewership group, which was up 40% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA 2022 Playoffs Game 3 of Phoenix Suns vs. New Orleans Pelicans drew 3,174,000 viewers on ESPN, the NBA 2022 Playoffs Game 3 of Milwaukee Bucks vs. Chicago Bulls drew 1,932,000 viewers on ABC, the USFL football game of Michigan vs. New Jersey drew 363,000 viewers on USA Network, and Gold Rush: Freddy Dodge drew 1,210,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 248,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was down 42.4%, Females 18-34 was down 26.7%, Males 35-49 was up 13.4%, and Females 35-49 was down 34.4% compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that week’s Rampage show was the seventh youngest skewing sports show for the week, behind one MLS soccer game, four NBA games, and that week’s episode of Dynamite.

AEW Rampage started off with around 565,000 viewers and had around 518,000 viewers for their second quarter, around 480,000 viewers for their third quarter, and around 510,000 viewers for their main event quarter featuring the TBS Championship match of Marina Shafir vs. Jade Cargill (c).
