As noted before, former Impact wrestler Michael Elgin was released from the company in June of 2020 following allegations of online sexual harassment committed by him towards a woman. Elgin’s suspension and later release from the company was part of that year’s #SpeakingOut movement against the widespread sexual, emotional, and physical abuse towards women within the wrestling industry.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that Elgin filed a lawsuit against the company on February 8th to the Circuit Court of Davidson County, Tennessee. Elgin is claiming that the company breached the terms of his contract when he was released and is currently asking for “not less than” five million dollars in compensatory damages.
Elgin is also claiming that Impact’s firing negatively affected his reputation and career in the wrestling industry. Elgin is also claiming that Impact Executive Vice President Scott D’Amore lied to him in regards to there not being any investigation by the company over the allegations against him and his removal from Impact programming at the time was not due to this alleged incident.
Johnson reported that Impact was officially served with the lawsuit on February 11th but had yet to file an official response as of the time of his report.
