Results of The Buy In pre-show by Matt Boone of Rajah.com

The Buy In
Kris Statlander vs. “Legit” Leyla Hirsch

The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this one. We see Statlander fare well early on, however it isn’t long before we see Hirsch start to take over control of the offense.

Hirsch goes on to dominate the match for a few minutes, but then we see Statlander start to show some signs of life. She fights from underneath back into competitive form and ultimately, back in the offensive driver’s seat.

Statlander now enjoys some offensive control time of her own, but then we see Hirsch start to turn up the intensity and violence levels a bit, using some sneaky and heel-style tactics to shift the momentum back in her favor.

The finish in this one comes when Hirsch gets the metal turnbuckle hook that holds the turnbuckle to the steel ring post. She took the steel turnbuckle hook and bashed Statlander in the head with it.

She follows up with a springboard moonsault and goes for the cover, picking up the 1-2-3 and the win in the first in-ring action of the evening here at Revolution.

Winner: “Legit” Leyla Hirsch (9:50)

After the match, Hirsch briefly celebrates the win and then heads to the back when she notices an upset / angry Red Velvet emerge from the backstage area.

Velvet headed to the ring to check on Statlander, who is still down and hurt.

In-Ring: Don Callis

Excalibur sends things down to Schiavone, who apparently has a special guest he is about to speak with in the ring.

On that note, the familiar sounds of Kenny Omega’s theme music plays. Instead of the former AEW World Champion, however, out comes the manager for “The Cleaner,” Don Callis.

Callis settles into the ring as Excalibur vents his frustration on the broadcast at how he can’t stand Omega’s right-hand man. Callis gets in the ring and talks about how Omega is not here tonight.

He tells the fans not to boo, because they still get one-half of the duo that produced the best World Championship run in the history of the business.

He says that since Omega’s not here, he’s confident that Adam Cole will win the World title tonight and will be a great transitional champion until Kenny Omega returns to reclaim it.

The Buy In
HOOK vs. QT Marshall

Tony Schiavone and Excalibur introduces their special guest commentator for our second and final pre-show match here on “The Buy-In” at AEW Revolution, “The Human Suplex Machine” Taz.

With that said, out comes QT Marshall accompanied by some of the members of The Factory. He cuts a promo on his way down to the ring and then settles inside the squared circle where he awaits the entrance of his opponent.

The familiar sounds of Action Bronson plays and Hook has been sent for. The proud papa Taz glows on commentary in audio form, as he mirrors the praise-singing by Schiavone and Excalibur as the impressive rookie contender makes his way out and heads to the ring.

Both guys are in the ring and with his back turned and his arms folded while he leans on the top turnbuckle in the corner, Hook awaits the bell and finally it sounds to get this one off-and-running.

“The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil” starts this one off with a bang, taking it to Marshall and launching him overhead every-which-way, as he shows off his suplex arsenal much like his father, “The Human Suplex Machine” did during his active in-ring career.

We see Hook dominate the action from the word “go” and after Marshall gets in perhaps one or two offensive moves at best, Hook ends up taking back over and ultimately locking in his Redrum submission finisher to elicit the tap out from Marshall. Hook picks up another win to keep his undefeated record alive.

Winner: Hook (5:00)

The Buy In
Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews vs. PAC, Penta Oscuro & Erick Redbeard

With Fenix not able to compete yet, as advertised we see Erick Redbeard, formerly known as Erick Rowan in WWE, make his way out to join the duo in this AEW Trios six-man tag-team contest.

The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this one. We see Buddy Matthews and Penta El Zero Miedo kicking things off for their respective teams.

The crowd is making a ton of noise for this one, giving it the first true superstar reactions of the evening thus far, outside of maybe Hook’s initial pop for his ring entrance in the previous bout.

We see some back-and-forth action between these two and then Redbeard and King tag in for each of their teams. Both guys try and charge and ram into the other with a shoulder tackle, however neither man budges.

This leads to a fun spot, as they each take a step back and then lunge forward looking to try shoulder tackles over-and-over-and-over again only for neither man to budge once.

Finally we see The House of Black start to utilize some great team work and the occasional sneaky, heel-style tactic to avert the referee’s attention and give themself precious seconds of rule-free offense to build on their already established offensive lead.

Matthews and Malakai take turns tagging each other in to keep a fresh man in the ring at all times. The House of Black trio are doing a good job of keeping PAC isolated in the ring.

They aren’t letting him anywhere near the corner for his team, instead opting to keep PAC on their half of the ring to continue widening the gap between themselves and their opposition.

Finally, PAC makes the much-needed tag to the fresher Penta El Zero Miedo. Penta launches himself off the top-rope, taking out any-and-everyone that moves. Penta ends up hitting a crazy senton roll-up attempt on Malakai.

Instead of fully attempting to secure the pin attempt, upon flipping over Malakai’s head he lands on the mat and immediately pops up and leaps forward to connect with a crazy Destroyer that turns King inside-out for a close near fall.

After getting in some additional offense, we see Penta tag in Redbeard, who slingshots himself over the top and connects with a leaping senton onto Malakai.

Black ends up hitting a big boot that sends Redbeard through the ropes where he crashes out on the floor at ringside. Now each guy on both sides of the ring enters the scene at one point or another, hitting key spots that shifts the momentum back and forth among the two teams.

We see everyone eventually down and out until Redbeard and King are the only two men standing on their feet. Once again the two big boys duke it out, trading back-and-forth shots as the crowd reacts appropriately to each landing shot.

King ends up getting Redbeard off the ropes with a crazy spot. This allows The House of Black trio to pull ahead into the offensive driver’s seat once again. Everyone excerpt Malakai and Redbeard are in the ring now on their hands and knees.

All four of the other competitors crawl towards each other, where they ultimately meet in the middle of the ring and begin brawling free-form style once again.

We see Penta and Malakai Black as the only two men standing a moment or so later, and they end up trading shots on the hardest part of the ring apron outside of the ring ropes. The commentators point out how this one is personal, alluding to the injury that took out Rey Fenix, which is the reason he’s not involved in this match tonight.

Penta ends up hitting one of his trademark semi-finishers on Malakai from the hard part of the ring apron outside of the ring ropes that sees Black crash and burn on the unforgiving concrete floor down below.

This leads to Penta picking up the lifeless and Malakai and rolling him into the ring, where he follows in after him. He looks to go for the cover and finish this one off, however the referee informs him that Malakai is not the legal man for his team.

Now Penta gets ambushed from behind by the man who is the legal man for The House of Black team. This sees Matthews go to work on Penta until the masked fan-favorite tags in Matthews.

A few moments later we see Redbeard back in as the legal man and he looks to finish this one off for his team. Instead, Redbeard gets misted by Black out of nowhere, which leads to King hitting a Fire Thunder Driver on him. Malakai follows up with the cover and scores the pin fall victory.

Winners: Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews (17:20)

“The Buy-In” at AEW Revolution 2022 wraps up after Jim Ross’ “Boomer Sooner” Oklahoma theme plays to bring him out.

“Good Ole’ J.R.” asks his fellow commentators Excalibur and Tony Schiavone if they are ready for tonight’s big event.

All three answered in the affirmative and then we wrap up the pre-show and move over to the main pay-per-view portion of tonight’s highly-anticipated show.

Face of the Revolution Ladder Match
Winner Gets Shot at TNT Championship
Keith Lee vs. Wardlow vs. Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Ricky Starks vs. Orange Cassidy vs. Christian Cage

Results of this match by Matt Boone of Rajah.com

We see Keith Lee and Wardlow on opposing sides of the ring doing a big power-guy spot to see who the crowd backs. They seemed to be behind both guys, but more so in Wardlow’s corner.

The action starts to powder out into small groups of two guys duking it out in various parts of the ring and ringside area. Orange Cassidy hits the ring and tunes up the band for some of his signature “Sweet Shin Music,” ala Mick Foley back in the day.

Cassidy has some fun messing with Starks, who as always, is essentially frozen in his tracks in a mixture of disbelief and disgust / confusion as he watches the mannerisms and actions of the “Freshly Squeezed” one.

Christian Cage ends up taking over control of the offense. He looks to climb the ladder, which is finally brought into the ring. No dice, however, as he is stopped before he can retrieve the belt.

Keith Lee ends up grabbing Cassidy off the ropes by his ankles. He proceeds to swing his entire body around as a battering ram type of weapon, knocking any-and-everyone out of his way in the process.

We see camera shots of Dan Lambert seated in a luxury box with The Men of the Year — “All Ego” Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky, as well as Paige Van Zant. Some more high-risk wild spots go down in the ring as we build-up to the big finish.

The finish in this one sees Wardlow stop Ricky Starks as he was at the top of the ladder in the middle of the ring. As Starks was looking to “reach up and grab that brass ring” — literally, we see Wardlow stop him.

An additional ladder is laid long-ways across the ladder they are standing on and Wardlow uses that as the viciously violent platform for a powerbomb on Starks.

With Starks landing on his head / neck on the unforgiving solid steel platform, Wardlow reaches up and unhooks the brass ring. Your Face Of The Revolution Ladder Match winner for 2022 — Wardlow. Great match.

Winner: Wardlow (17:20)
