Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that WWE officials recently updated their edict for new talent signings.
Meltzer reported that as of this week, the current edict is to focus more and more on wanting to train athletes who are starting their wrestling careers from scratch or almost from scratch.
WWE reportedly held another tryout camp recently which included former ROH talent Rok-C among the people invited. One source spoken to stated that this recent tryout camp should have caused the company to reconsider their current stance due to the poor results generated from the group invited that had no real prior professional wrestling experience. Out of all who were invited from this group, only one athlete reportedly showed any promise of being a potential future star for the company. This same athlete reportedly was also someone who is a fan of wrestling. In regards to the indie talents invited, Meltzer reported that a few of them ranged from okay to good based on their tryouts results.
Meltzer reported that the company currently has another tryout camp scheduled to take place this April in Dallas, Texas during WrestleMania 38 weekend. Unlike prior tryouts, WWE reportedly will be inviting very few indie talents to this upcoming tryout and even fewer for future tryouts going forward.
