Brock Lesnar on Vince McMahon, His Legacy, Issues with Today’s Era of WWE Wrestlers, More

A recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show podcast had Brock Lesnar as the guest. Some of the topics discussed included his thoughts about his working relationship with Vince McMahon, his wrestling legacy and WWE’s Hall of Fame, future of his wrestling career, his current run in WWE, and his thoughts about the issues with today’s era of wrestlers in WWE.

Prior to the start of his interview, Lesnar was involved in a comedic moment where he broke the table that had his microphone attached to it.

On the topic of his working relationships with UFC President Dana White and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, Lesnar stated

“Um, yeah, Danaā€™s alright. I mean, I got a lot of money from him. ā€¦ I probably shouldā€™ve got paid more …

I donā€™t know, I really canā€™t compare the two guys. Theyā€™re just soā€¦ honestly my relationship with Vince is so different than it is with Dana over the years. Vince and I have had a love-hate relationship for the last 20 years, but itā€™s been good. We got a lot of water under the bridge. I have a lot of respect for both men but dealing with Danaā€¦ itā€™s just a totally different business approach.

I met Vince when I was younger. I look at Vince as more of a father figure actually, because Iā€™ve learned a lot of things from him and I was able to carry those things over and handle business with Dana. Vince is a self-made person, so is Danaā€¦ you know, he took the company [UFC] and made it public, and made it big, big [money].”

On the topic of his wrestling legacy and WWE’s Hall of Fame, Lesnar stated:

“I donā€™t care or give a sh-t. Iā€™m serious. Like I donā€™t give a f-ck if Iā€™m in the Hall of Fame or not. Iā€™ve done what I did. I donā€™t care. I donā€™t care if Iā€™m leaving a legacy behind. What I do care about is, you know, Iā€™m a good person, a good dad, and all that stuff. Thatā€™s important to me.

A Mount Rushmore of wrestling? Yeah, thereā€™s a lot of guys. This is a business about making money okay? Unfortunately, you wouldnā€™t be doing a podcast if you werenā€™t making money. The world turns, the NFL, everything, you know is about just turning dollar bills, yo.”

On the topic of the future of his wrestling career, Lesnar stated:

“As long as those dolla billz keep comin’ in.”

On the topic of his current run in WWE, Lesnar stated:

“I’m having a great time. I think (I’m smarter). I’m more relaxed. I have 20 years in and I’m having fun. I don’t give a shit if I fuck up. I don’t have to do this. I’ve been really wise. I’m doing it because I want to. I’m not gloating. I’ve just been good with my money. I was almost bankrupt my first run. I just signed a big deal with Vince, a big deal, back 20 years ago. A lot of guaranteed money. Six months later I’m like, ‘Yeah, go screw yourself Vince.’ He was a little chapped. I had to do that. He understood that. I had to leave and go out. If I didn’t leave, I wouldn’t have been in the UFC and all that stuff. I made my own and paved my own road. Came back and established that this is what I want and this is how I’m going to do it and I’m very fortunate. I’m having a good time and I want to portray and show a different side.”

On the topic of his issues with today’s era of wrestlers in WWE, Lesnar stated:

“Now I’m the old bastard walking the hall. I look at these young kids and, I don’t know. Someone needs to step up. Get over. Figure out how to put asses in seats and not worry about your next high spot. Figure out, ‘how the hell can I be different. How the hell can I make money?’ That’s the business. The young generation thinks that if they go out and do a certain move and they do it over and over, that’s not the business. There is a good guy and bad guy like Holyfield and Tyson, mega heavyweight, pitting people against each other, storylines. That’s what was fun about me coming back this time, the storyline with Roman Reigns and being with Paul Heyman for 15 years.”
