Kyle O’Reilly Announces Birth of His First Child

Kyle O’Reilly recently announced on Instagram that he became a father for the first time in his life following his wife giving birth to their first child this past Monday.

“January 17, 2022 was the most important and amazing day of my life. Welcome to the world Janie Elizabeth Greenwood. Named after my late Mother who wanted to be a Granny more than anything, I am so proud to be your Dad. Life is so precious and beautiful! You share a birthday with some amazingly influential and positive people including Michelle Obama, Betty White, Muhammad Ali and Jim Carrey plus you were born on MLK day during a full moon. NJPW News & Notes

New Japan Pro Wrestling’s longtime ring announcer Kimihiko Ozaki recently announced on Twitter that he will be leaving the company at the end of this month. Ozaki also announced that his last show for the company will be at their January 29th event in Tokyo, Japan. Prior to his announcement, Ozaki had been with the company since 2006.

NJPW recently announced that they will be holding a new set of tryouts at their LA Dojo on February 21st in Los Angeles, California.

Chase Owens announced on Twitter that he recently tested positive for COVID-19 and will be pulling out of his scheduled indies bookings this weekend as a result. In a follow up tweet, Owens stated that he is currently feeling fine and has not developed any symptoms.

NJPW announced that Young Lion talent Kosei Fujita recently suffered a shoulder injury while training and as a result, they have pulled him off the cards of their remaining events this month.


Misc. Wrestling News & Notes

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz’s upcoming autobiographical book has been officially re-titled to “There’s Just One Problem: True Tales from the Former, One-Time, 7th Most Powerful Person in the WWE.” Gewirtz’s upcoming book is still scheduled to be released on August 16th.

Wrestling Revolver recently announced that Shane “Swerve” Strickland, former Isiah “Swerve” Scott in WWE, and Deonna Purrazzo will be making an appearance for the company at their Swerve’s House event on April 16th in Clive, Iowa.

The Gladiatores’ Alfonso Lizarraga reported that Konnan recently underwent heart surgery due to health issues related to a recent bout with COVID-19. Lizarraga also reported that Konnan is currently in stable condition and resting following his surgery. (English translation via Fightful.com)

Game Changer Wrestling recently announced that Mascara Dorada, former Gran Metalik in WWE, will be making several appearances for the company this February. They are their Fightclub 2: Houston event on February 4th in Houston, Texas, their Believe Me event on February 19th in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and their The Coldest Winter event on February 26th in Los Angeles, California.
