More on WWE NXT Viewership for January 11th
The January 11th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT suffer small declines in overall viewership and key demographic ratings and a large decline in key demographic rankings.
NXT drew 647,000 viewers and a 0.14 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 40th place.
Detailed demographic and quarter-hours breakdowns were not available in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for NXT’s declines this week was due to the large declines suffered from their overall younger key demographic viewership and younger female key demographic viewership groups, which was down 18.6% in Males 18-34 and down 33.3% in Females 18-34 compared to last week’s show.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the College basketball game of Kentucky Wildcats vs. Vanderbilt Commodores drew 938,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Auburn Tigers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide drew 855,000 viewers on ESPN, Curse of Oak Island drew 2,509,000 viewers on History Channel, and Wipeout drew 683,000 viewers on TBS.
In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 177,000 viewers. NXT’s Males 18-34 was down 18.6%, Females 18-34 was down 33.3%, Males 35-49 was down 14.5%, and Females 35-49 was up 13.2% compared to last week’s show.
In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was up 17.4% in overall viewership and down 0.03% in key demographic viewership.
More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for January 12th
The January 12th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer small declines in overall viewership and key demographic ratings.
AEW drew 969,000 viewers and a 0.39 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 3rd place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines this week was due to their lower than usual younger key demographic viewership groups, which was down 21.4% compared to last week’s show.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Dallas Mavericks vs. New York Knicks drew 1,195,000 viewers on ESPN, the NHL game of Montreal Canadiens vs. Boston Bruins drew 434,000 viewers on TNT, and Real Housewives of Orange County drew 920,000 viewers on Bravo.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 505,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was down 14.8% Females 18-34 was down 32.7%, Males 35-49 was down 0.9%, and Females 35-49 was up 5.6% compared to last week’s show.
In an interesting note, Meltzer reported that this week’s AEW show managed to top this past Monday’s WWE RAW show in Males 18-49, Males 18-34, Males 35-49, and overall 18-34. AEW also managed to tie RAW in the overall 18-49 key demographic ratings at 0.39 for each but RAW was slightly ahead in viewership at 507,000 viewers compared to 505.000 viewers for AEW.
In terms of the million viewership milestone, three out of AEW’s eight quarter hours averaged one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak was at 1,169,000 viewers for their first quarter. AEW’s low point was at 852,000 for their seventh quarter.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 27.2% in overall viewership and up 30.2% in key demographic viewership.
AEW Dynamite started off with around 1,169,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the MJF promo segment, the Young Bucks, Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly, & Britt Baker backstage promo segment, and the Hangman Adam Page & Dan Lambert in-ring promo & brawl with Lance Archer segment which gained 58,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Dante Martin vs. Powerhouse Hobbs match, and the Chris Jericho, Inner Circle, & Eddie Kingston backstage interview segment which lost 147,000 viewers.
More on AEW Rampage Viewership for January 7th
The January 7th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a very large increase in overall viewership and key demographic rankings and a large increase in key demographic ratings.
AEW Rampage drew 588,000 viewers and a 0.24 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 7th place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s large increases that week was due to the large gains from their older female key demographic viewership, which was up 25.9% compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly was enough to offset the large declines from their younger key demographic viewership groups, which was down 13% compared to the prior week.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Atlanta Hawks vs. Los Angeles Lakers drew 1,772,000 viewers on ESPN and Gold Rush drew 1,679,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 308,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was down 22.2%, Females 18-34 was down 22.2%, Males 35-49 was up 8.6%, and Females 35-49 was up 25.9% compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that week’s Rampage show was the second youngest skewing sports show for the week, only behind that week’s Dynamite show.
AEW Rampage started off with around 574,000 viewers and had around 609,000 viewers for their second quarter, around 594,000 viewers for their third quarter, and around 574,000 viewers for their main event quarter featuring the No DQ, No Rules Street Fight match of Daniel Garcia & 2point0 vs. Eddie Kingston, Santana, & Ortiz
