Lio Rush Injured at PWG Show

Lio Rush suffered a dislocated shoulder during last night’s PWG Battle of Los Angeles show and had to be taken to a hospital.

The injury happened in a second round match against Buddy Matthews (formerly Buddy Murphy), possibly during a spot where Matthews gave Rush a curb stomp. The match ended in Rush winning by disqualification when Matthews was going to curb stomp him again onto a chair, then shoved the ref who was trying to stop him. After the match, Rush was down in the ring being checked on for a while.

In the next round of the tournament, Matthews came out and said that Rush had been taken to the ER, so Matthews was advancing by default. He was quickly rolled up and lost to Speedball Mike Bailey.

Before the Rush vs. Matthews match, Matthews cut a heel promo, which led to some fans throwing drinks at him in the ring. Later in the show, Excalibur, one of the founders of PWG, came out and reprimanded the crowd for throwing the drinks, saying that it might have led to the injury by leaving wet spots in the ring.

Rush tweeted that he’s “not good” but “will be good” and “dangerous” when he returns.

Update:

Rush tweeted that he suffered a dislocated shoulder.

Clean dislocation in my left shoulder. ( Opposite to my previous shoulder injury ). MRI in 2-3 weeks to hopefully find that that there’s no severe ligament damage/tear.

To all the boys in the back and crew at PWG last night that were super attentive and extremely helpful, thank you so much. More frustration and disappointment then anything else at the way last night ended. To all of my fans and supporters, thank you for the outpouring love and support. Saddened by the hate speech, racial slurs, and throwing of objects in the ring by the “fans” who attended Night 2 of BOLA, but nothing will dimension my love for this sport and stop me from performing for those who appreciate my craft. I will be back. See you soon
