More on Jeff Hardy’s Release from WWE
As noted before, WWE released Jeff Hardy this past Thursday due to issues involving an incident at a house show event this past weekend in Edinburg, Texas. This incident revolved around Hardy abruptly leaving through the crowd during his Six-man tag team match with Drew McIntyre and Xavier Woods against Roman Reigns and The Usos. Following the incident, WWE officials sent Hardy home and removed him from the rest of that weekend’s tour of events.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources within WWE stated that Hardy’s release was due to him rejecting the company’s offer to enter rehab. Those same sources stated that Hardy was fully aware that if he rejected the offer, the company would have to take action against him over the incident. WWE officials reportedly made the decision to release Hardy instead of suspending him following his refusal of their offer.
Meltzer reported that Hardy was given the standard 90-days no-compete clause as part of the terms of his release and is currently set to become a free agent on March 9, 2022.
